MORGAN FAIRCHILD LOOKS LIKE IT’S STILL 1978 – IN A GOOD WAY

Whenever we see Morgan Fairchild we marvel at how little she changes. Her first big role was on Dallas in 1978 and she’s been a regular fixture on sitcoms and series TV – mostly playing rich bitches – ever since. Besides playing Sandra Bernhard’s bisexual girlfriend on Roseanne, she played Chandler’s mother on Friends. Morgan has always had that big haired Texas beauty queen look and she still does! She appeared above, signing autographs at the Comikaze Expo at the LA Convention Center this weekend.

Here’s Kim Kardashian filming her reality show in Miami along with her sister Khloe while trying to convince fans that she likes animals. She grew increasingly uncomfortable as she carried a tiny white Persian kitten that struggled and squirmed to get away. She held it by the neck to keep it from escaping and finally gave up and switched with Khloe- Kim carried the iced teas and Khloe carried the kitten. By the way, Kanye West supposedly designed Kim’s peculiar white shoes…

LOW RATINGS ON X FACTOR WIPED THE SMIRK OFF SIMON COWELL’S FACE

The always confident Simon Cowell, who can do no wrong, may have gotten a glimpse of the future and he doesn’t like it. We’ve had Britney Spears and Demi Lovato jammed down our throats for months in a huge publicity buildup for this season’s The X-Factor and we’re already overdosed on them. The show premiered this season to ratings a third LOWER than last year’s premier and the second show was even WORSE. Boo hoo. Maybe, just maybe, the public has had enough of overpaid, overhyped judges and mediocre talent. Prime time TV seems to have devolved into one gigantic continuous amateur hour. The novelty has worn off.

‘THE MASTER” IS ANOTHER CRUSHING BLOW TO SCIENTOLOGY

Although the movie “The Master” was heavily played DOWN as a take-off on Scientology before its release, it turns out to be quite a criticism of the cult. A few years back, Hollywood was afraid to even use the WORD Scientology in a joking way. Lawsuits were a huge threat. Jokes on sitcoms were deleted to avoid litigation. But Scientology seems to be spectacularly losing its power in the wake of the Travolta sex scandal and Tom Cruise divorce. Journalists are freely writing critical essays on the subject (Vanity Fair, for instance) and drop-outs from the cult are telling all. Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie “The Master “ is a breakthrough because the main character based on L Ron Hubbard is a 50’s science fiction writer and a con-man, and its excellent reviews indicate that it will be seen by many people. Scientologists are complaining, but no one cares. This movie couldn’t have been made fifteen years ago when Scientology bullied Hollywood and magazine writers and we know this from personal experience. BANKRUPT BETSEY JOHNSON BOUNCES BACK WITH REALITY SHOW

You haven’t seen the last of Betsey Johnson! Betsey has been a fashion icon to fun-loving girls since she started at Paraphernalia in the 1960’s. She always designed affordable colorful party dresses for girls who like to have fun. Through the years she’s had her own clothing lines and a chain of stores that just went bankrupt. Now she’s landed her own reality show called “Betsey and Lulu” and it stars her and her daughter Lulu, and Lulu’s two little girls. On the series, the colorful Betsey will rebuild her business and Lulu will start her own. We were lucky to see one of Betsey’s runway shows in the 80’s at a punk club in New York where all the models were hosed down and soaking wet as the highlight of the show! It’s nice to see her surviving bankruptcy…

RUSSELL BRAND ORCHESTRATES A MINI-INTERVENTION FOR HOMELESS MAN

Russell Brand noticed an apparently homeless and shirtless man in the alley behind his yoga class, and stopped to give him a bottle of water. He introduced himself to the guy who seemed to be high as a kite on SOMETHING and had been rolling around in a dirty parking space. They had a chat and Russell talked the man into putting his shirt on and accompanying him to an AA meeting. The guy got into Russell’s Range Rover and they drove off.

Kanye West rules his career and business with an iron hand and that includes telling his entourage how to dress. Kanye’s taste has evolved through the years and he insists that the people around him reflect his current predilection, according to Merle Ginsberg at The Hollywood Reporter. Right now he happens to be into black designer clothes (Barneys specialty) and he had his on-staff stylist make over the whole team, whether they like black or not. No one’s complaining because Kanye pays for all their designer clothes. We assume that goes for Kim, too.

Clint Eastwood suffered many rude questions about his age and mental state after he made his “chair” speech at the Republican National Convention. But let’s not forget where he started (on the 1960’s TV series “Rawhide”) and the fact that he was quite a hunk and the Robert Pattinson of that era. Definitely similar hair.

ED O’NEILL ADMITS HE WASN’T FIRST CHOICE FOR “MODERN FAMILY”

Modern Family costar Ed O’Neill (above left) says he almost didn’t get the part of the head of the family Jay Pritchett on the hit sitcom. As he tells it, both he and “Coach” star Craig T Nelson were up for the role. When Ed read the script he immediately decided the show would be a hit, and he was very disappointed when Nelson was chosen for the part. But Ed’s manager told him that Craig asked for too much money and Ed happily signed on the dotted line. So THAT’S how he got the part and Ed told Rolling Stone that he laughed later when he heard that Craig was furious and wanted to fire his manager and agent when the show became a success.

NO SPARKS BETWEEN TOM CRUISE AND CAMERON DIAZ

Just because Tom Cruise was a guest at Cameron Diaz’s 40th birthday party in London does NOT mean they are dating! The pair became friendly while filming “Knight and Day” in 2010, but Cameron is hardly a likely prospect for Tom’s next conquest. Granted, she IS very single and she IS taller than Tom, which he seems to prefer. But Cameron is too old for Tom – he needs a very young girl who is either a Scientologist or too young to realize what Scientology really IS. Cameron doesn’t need help with her career and she has plenty of money of her own. Friendship is all she wants from Tom.
