RYAN O’NEAL: “IT’S OPRAH’S FAULT THAT TATUM AND I DON’T SPEAK!”

How funny is it that Ryan “pass the buck” O’Neal blames Oprah for widening the rift in his family. Ryan, 70, and his estranged daughter Tatum, 47, filmed eight episodes of their reality show all about their attempts to reconcile after ten years of estrangement for the Oprah Winfrey Network. We have to give Tatum a lot of credit for even attempting to get along with her impossible father. The series featured therapy sessions including father and daughter but after it wrapped they were no longer speaking at all. Ryan blames not his own history as a monstrous father, but Oprah’s prying series. We think Tatum is better off without him.

A STAR IS BORN: BEYONCE HAS MET HER MATCH IN CHRISTIAN BALE

We imagine Clint Eastwood wasn’t thrilled to hear about Beyonce’s pregnancy because he hoped to start filming their movie “A Star Is Born” in February. Odds are it will be delayed. Clint really wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to play the male lead but he passed on the part. Now we hear Eastwood has hired Christian Bale to play the celebrity husband who becomes emasculated as his wife’s popularity rises and his own eclipses. We’re thinking Bale will bring QUITE a different edge to the character. This will be the fourth remake of the movie – in the 1974 version, Elvis Presley was desperate to play the role opposite Barbra Streisand – he felt it would change his career. But Colonel Parker nixed the idea.

John Mayer might be surprised one night when he arrives at the Sunset Tower Hotel and finds himself not exactly welcome. His exgirlfriend Jennifer Aniston is a regular there – she has a special table and her own drink (the skinny margarita) She’s there once or twice a week and she politely asked the host to “discourage” John Mayer from coming in when she is there. If she’s NOT there, everything’s fine.

BEN AFFLECK IS DIRECTING HIMSELF IN “ARGO”

We never would have guessed that this is Ben Affleck in costume for his 1970’s thriller “Argo” on location in Hollywood. The hair and the beard threw us off. Ben is also directing this story of a CIA specialist who hatches a plan to create a fake Hollywood production in order to to rescue 6 Americans from Iran during the hostage crisis. Today they filmed at the architectural landmark Crossroads of the World.

LINDSAY LOHAN: BEING BLONDE IS HARD WORK

Lindsay Lohan claims she can’t afford to see a psychiatrist but she spends a fortune on her hair. When she bleached her hair platinum blonde she had to get a whole new set of extensions to match, and it looks like she’s lost control of them. Her damaged hair is matted and the extension connections are clearly visible. She’s been to the salon twice this week trying to tame her frazzled hair. It’s not easy having hair that color.

A COMEBACK FOR OSCAR HOST EDDIE MURPHY?

Out of the blue, Eddie Murphy became this year’s Oscar host and this may prove to be a turning point for him. Oscar producer Brett Ratner hired his pal Eddie who stars in Brett’s upcoming movie “Tower Heist.” Eddie is not the ambitious young creative talent he was on Saturday Night Live and “48 Hours.” According to the L.A. Tiimes he is now most noted for his “half-hearted work ethic and sense of entitlement.” Eddie’s massive talent became mired in his own ego. His recent movies, aside from Shrek, have been critical and boxoffice flops. He is also remembered less for his humor than his questionable sexual proclivities. Eddie can put this all behind him if he wows us on the Oscar show. But will he make the effort?

JESSICA SIMPSON’S LIPS ARE SEALED ABOUT “FASHION STAR”

Jessica Simpson filmed the final episode of “Fashion Star” in which celebrities pair up with young designers to win a huge jackpot. The show won’t air until February and producers are understandably nervous about the name of the winner leaking out. So they threatened Jessica and the others that if the winner is leaked, the person responsible will NOT be paid their big salary for the show.
