HOPE SPRINGS: A FAMILIAR RELATIONSHIP EXAMINED

We couldn’t help but appreciate “Hope Springs” after a summer of 3D action movies. Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones play a couple as ordinary as your own parents. We’ve never seen Tommy Lee play a role like this and he is understated and brilliant. After 31 years of marriage they’ve grown apart, and Kay is unhappy and Arnold is oblivious. Kay forces her husband into marriage therapy with embarrassing and fascinating results. Many longtime marrieds will see themselves in these realistic characters (the script was written by a woman – Vanessa Taylor) It’s smart and funny and makes you think – it should be required viewing for anybody who wants to stay married.

GAYLE KING: IF OPRAH WERE A MAN, I’D MARRY HER IN A MINUTE!

Oprah Winfrey’s longtime friend Gayle King livened up the CBS This Morning show when she declared if Oprah were a man she would absolutely marry her! It’s especially funny because Oprah and Gayle have been denying rumors for years that they are lesbian lovers. (They’re not.) Gayle went on to say that her pal Oprah is successful, caring, and honest – “she has all the traits you’d want in a spouse.” This reminds us of our favorite quote from feminist Gloria Steinem: “We’ve become the men we wanted to marry.” So true.

IT’S NOT EASY TO SHOCK MADONNA – BUT HER BOYFRIEND DID!

Madonna is in shock – and she is rarely speechless. Insiders say her young boyfriend has mustered up the courage to propose to her! 53 year old Madonna was flabbergasted when 24 year old dancer Brahim Zaibat asked her to marry him a few weeks ago. Her younger boyfriends are generally too intimidated to suggest such a thing. But Brahim has a mind of his own – he has introduced Madonna to his mother and accompanied Madonna to the Kabbalah center. In May, Madonna kicks off another world tour with Brahim as a principal dancer. She told Brahim she needs time to think about his proposal. When she divorced Guy Ritchie she declared “Never again!” but since then has softened on the idea. She’s happy with Brahim, but won’t be rushed.

Star magazine insists that Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale will be the next celebrity couple to call it quits. They say rockstar Gavin is miserable because his wife is more successful than he is, and that Gwen is still upset because he had a secret daughter (model Daisy Lowe) not to mention a youthful fling with UK gender bent Marilyn. Makes sense, but their actions speak louder than words in print. Gwen and Gavin spend a lot of time with their kids and always have quiet moments where they seem very fond of each other.

Bar Gay Head in a Bag Hollywood Hustler Marriage Murder Problems Spotlight

COPS ARE INVESTIGATING SPOTLIGHT BAR PATRONS REGARDING “HEAD IN A BAG” MURDER

We heard a little info about the “head in a bag” found in the Hollywood Hills. Since the murder victim was identified as Hervey Medellin, 66, a retired airline employee, investigators are looking for people who used to frequent the Spotlight dive bar in Hollywood, which closed in September. This sleazy but popular and well-known bar was almost half a century old – Keifer Sutherland drank there and Brad Pitt tried to buy the place at one time. It was also a gay bar where older men often picked up young hustlers. Police are following a tip that the murdered man met someone there awhile back and he may be a suspect. Just passing on what we heard….

Will Smith is in New York , looking surprisingly grey, and without his wife Jada Pinkett yet again. Divorce Fraud Kim Kardashian Kris Humphries Lawsuit Marriage Revenge

WATCH OUT KIM, KRIS HUMPHRIES HAS DECLARED WAR!

Since Kim Kardashian filed for divorce, Kris Humphries morphed from shock to embarrassment to ANGER, and now he wants to get even. This marriage will NOT end quietly and quickly as Kim had hoped. According to CJ at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, Humphries’ request for an annulment claiming “fraud” is just the tip of the iceberg. He’s hired a dream team of Los Angeles lawyers (trial attorneys familiar with the courtroom) to prove “fraud” and depositions will be flying. Kris is going to embarrass Kim by having lawyers closely examine her bank accounts and assets and haul her friends (maybe even her ex Reggie Bush!) into court. Kim will certainly use her millions to delay and run up Kris’s legal tab, but that may backfire since he is asking HER to pay his legal bills. Our pal CJ sums it up: “Kim will rue the day she laid eyes on Kris Humphries!”

Hugh Jackman’s wife chatted about her husband and gay rumors and definitely didn’t do a thing to squelch the speculation. Wolverine star Hugh Jackman has long been rumored to have some sort of agreement with his 13 years older wife Deborra-Lee Furness in which he can do whatever he wants on his own, but they have 2 adopted children (whom Hugh adores) and a normal home life together. Jackman’s singing and dancing on Broadway intensified the gay rumors. Instead of insisting that her husband is not gay, Mrs Jackman responded “It’s tragic that people have nothing better to do than gossip about people they don’t know.” (That’s US!)
