Vogue’s Anna Wintour has officially declared Miley Cyrus as the new “it girl.” At first we were somewhat taken aback, but when you stop to think about it, the flattering declaration makes sense. In the past year Miley has given herself a total makeover. She went from hick to hipster, something Britney Spears could never do. She struggled for awhile after she left the world of Disney, but she intelligently gathered smart people around her for advice. She wasn’t afraid to take chances with her haircuts and fashion and has emerged a cool new person with an edge. She looks great – now if she could only do something about that accent.

What’s a girl to do when she’s feeling down and out and needs a morale boost? If she’s a female celebrity, she sets up a photoshoot with Mario Testino. Pamela Anderson, 45, has been working hard to make a buck for the past few years and at the same time enduring horrendous internet insults about how badly she’s aging and how “rough” she looks. (We don’t agree.) Of course, this seems to be an occupational hazard for a pin-up girl – the insults are “payback” for the glorious bikini years of her youth when all male eyes were upon her, but it’s also a rude and nasty aspect of the anonymous internet. Brazilian Vogue is obviously very different from ours and they published these sexy photos of Pam that are certain to brighten up her day. Two offbeat characters turn heads in Manhattan. You might remember red-haired Grace Coddington from the Vogue magazine documentary “The September >Issue.” She has some head of hair, doesn’t she? A former model, Grace has been the brilliant Creative Director at Vogue since 1988 and the film implied that SHE was the real genius at Vogue, not Anna Wintour, who enjoys all the credit. The unlikeable but brilliant designer John Galliano always breaks fashion rules. His racist meltdown blamed on alcoholism a few years ago destroyed his career, but he is attempting a comeback.

We were pretty impressed by Lady Gaga’s Vogue cover on this month’s heaviest issue in history. She was glamorous and futuristic but impossibly tall and slim. It turns out most of her amazing look was photoshopped. A video was made of the cover photo shoot and it was just released. The video makers didn’t photoshop anything so the REAL lady Gaga is clearly visible and it’s quite different from the Vogue cover. The Hollywood Reporter revealed the photos (above) side by side. We don’t know what to think – is it trickery or artistry?
