“Dancing With the Stars” expert Derek Hough brought his mother Mari to his “Taking the Lead” book signing at the Grove. He is a third generation dancer. Derek’s grandparents on both sides were dancers, and his mother Marianne met his father Bruce on a ballroom dance team in college. Derek and his sister Julianne are carrying on the family tradition in a big way.

Halloween parties are all over the place in Hollywood and Derek Hough posted this photo from last night on Twitter. We’re not sure who everybody in the photo is, but Derek is the Jedi in the middle, and Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough are Bonnie and Clyde. Our favorite costume, however, is Fergie done up in leopard as local billboard pin-up “girl” Angeline. We think Angeline will be flattered.

Every new season of “Dancing With The Stars” seems to bring Derek Hough a new girlfriend and he creates plenty of buzz for the show. Derek and his dance partner, Extra TV host Maria Menounos, partied in Las Vegas this weekend at a Bud Light Lime-a-Rita Cinco de Mayo event. As cozy as they seemed, Derek is rumored to be dating another contestant – Katherine Jenkins – and Maria has had a boyfriend for ten years.

Maxsim is going to be green with envy. His “Dancing with the Stars” rival Derek Hough has been photographed several times with his Hanes underwear label peeking out. The Hanes people saw an opportunity so they signed him up to be their underwear model. We doubt if clean cut Derek’s photos will be as overtly sexy as David Beckham’s billboards were for Calvin Klein. But, who knows?

“Dancing with the Stars” winners Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough arrived in New York this morning looking remarkably fresh after the nerve wracking contest finale last night and red-eye flight (albeit on a private plane) immediately after. The pair is booked on TV shows all day. On their way to the Regis and Kelly show, Derek stopped to play with a cute puppy. We would have been miserable if Nicole hadn’t won – she is an amazing talent – and a classic beauty.
Derek Hough and his “Dancing With The Stars” partner Nicole Scherzinger have been madly rehearsing and they took a break to get some fresh air. The pair couldn’t resist bursting into their own rendition of the “when you’re a Jet” song from “West Side Story” outside. Nicole’s boyfriend, British race car driver Lewis Hamilton is in Australia for a race. If Nicole and Derek’s first dance together is any indication, his couple is bound to make it to the finals.

He’s only been officially split from Shannon Elizabeth for two days and already Derek Hough is looking a little like a lonely guy. Derek and Shannon announced that their romance was over with matching tweet posts on Friday. He’s seen here skateboarding to a tanning salon. After a tanning session he meandered on wheels into The Grove.
Who would have guessed that “Dancing With The Stars” partners Shannon Elizabeth,35, and Derek Hough, 24, would still be together a year later? Certainly not In Touch magazine, which claimed the couple admitted their romance was faked to earn audience votes. In fact, Derek moved in with Shannon while they were competing and never left. Above, the playful pair shopped for household items in Target where they bought towels, closet fixtures and a welcome mat.

The Ballas Hough band, which consists of Dancing With The Stars regulars Derek Hough and Mark Ballas, put on an athletic show at The Grove this week. Earlier in the week Derek was spotted by a DWTS fan they were standing in line together at Quiznos Sub Shop at Hollywood and Western. Derek was friendly and he and the fan chatted about the show, about Cloris Leachman, and other characters on the show, while waiting to order subs. When he reached the cashier, Derek insisted on paying for the fan’s sub, proving he’s the nice guy he seems to be.
