We simply cannot believe the back view of Nicki Minaj’s VMA gown. Everything she wears that is not spandex must be custom made because her bottom is so gigantic. Certainly her outrageous shape is a challenge to designers and Nicki must be uncomfortable squeezing herself into an ordinary theater seat.

If we never had to look at Miley Cyrus’s tongue again, the world would be a better place. Her revolting turn as host of the Video Music Awards will be hard to live down. Colorful costumes are no substitute for clever banter. Miley was a bore. Her appearance was all about ME, ME, ME! She flaunted her body in ridiculously skimpy but not particularly clever outfits. (Makes one appreciate Lady Gaga’s imagination) Miley continuously patted herself on the back and tried to appear tough by talking about drugs and cursing like a rapper, but her raspy voice is the only tough thing about her. Her cringe-worthy pre-recorded segments were as dull as her live comments. It was an evening of desperation for Miley and embarrassment for her family.

We had to laugh when we saw how Kanye West and Kim Kardashian looked when they arrived at the Video Awards show. Kanye, who calls the fashion shots for both of them, dressed himself in a greige oversize sweater, sweatpants, and casual sneakers. No chance of Kim being that comfortable. He trussed up pregnant Kim in a cargo inspired evening gown with a plunging neckline and stiletto heels. Both maintained expressionless faces in front of the cameras.

Courtney Stodden and her husband Doug Hutchison, 55, celebrated her 21st birthday at Warwick and she didn’t fall down on her way out! (despite those shoes combined with alcohol) This is Doug and Courtney’s second time around – they married in 2011 when she was a child bride of 16, and split up in 2013. After experiencing the dating world on her own for awhile, Courtney rushed back and reconciled with Doug in 2014. He couldn’t be happier. Courtney’s been a singer and a pin-up girl, but she really wants her own reality show. Imagine aspiring to THAT.

Now we’ve seen everything. Nicki Minaj went out on a date last night with her boyfriend Meek Mill and she almost looked like a normal person! She’s wearing a modest floral print sheath dress and nude heels and with the exception of her improbable proportions, is a pretty girl. Is Nicki growing up? Probably not. On Saturday she’s set to appear on the MTV Video Music Awards and we bet she plans to shock the audience as usual.

For years we’ve been complaining about mothers who push their way-too-big kids around in strollers (Kate Hudson, among others) when they should be walking. Then Katie Holmes came along and she CARRIED Suri until she was four feet tall. Fashionable mom Gwen Stefani is hauling her youngest son Apollo around in a baby carrier and it looks like torture on a 100 degree day. He’s a big boy.

These two girls (the one on the left is reality somebody Nikki Mudarris) got all dressed up like this NOT to strut their wares on Sunset Blvd, but to party at Warwick in Hollywood, where unexceptional cocktails cost $17.50 and doormen are abusive (so we hear.) We imagine that wealthy ballplayers are what these girls are prowling for. Guys foolish enough or drunk enough to get involved with them are likely to live to regret it.

Sharon Stone laments that it’s difficult to find a boyfriend at her age (57) but she still has some men in her life. Sharon’s young sons are growing up fast – Laird is 10 and Quinn is 9 – today she picked them up after school and took them shopping in Beverly Hills. Sharon’s oldest son Roan, 15, lives with his father Phil Bronstein in San Francisco. Sharon fought for custody and was very upset when she lost. She adopted the two younger boys on her own.

Later in Malibu, while Woody Allen was directing Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart on the beach, he slipped on some rocks and took a tumble. Coworkers panicked and helped him up – he seemed to be ok and continued to work. Woody appears to be an inspired workaholic and he writes and directs one movie after another.

Just looking at this photo of Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart filming Woody Allen’s new untitled movie makes us anxious to see the finished product! It appears to be a period movie (late 40’s early 50’s?) and we’ve never seen angst-ridden millennials Jesse and Kristen play anyone but themselves. And the idea of them as a couple is also intriguing. Bruce Willis suddenly either quit or was fired from this movie. Do you suppose Bruce and Woody didn’t get along? Bruce can be rather bossy…
