“Friends” star Matthew Perry’s dream just came true. He saw Neil Simon’s movie “The Odd Couple” when he was 10 years old, and always dreamed of playing Oscar Madison, the messy sportswriter. He pitched an updated remake to CBS with himself as producer, co-writer, and star, and they ordered a pilot! He’s got a “Frasier” writer, Joe Keenan, on board, and now all the show needs is a Felix Unger! How about David Hyde Pierce? Or Eric McCormack? Who do YOU think would be perfect for the fussbudget Felix role?

PLASTIC SURGERY UPDATE: MICHAEL JACKSON WAS FIRST WITH THE FACIAL HAIR TRANSPLANT

It looks like Michael Jackson was a pioneer in a peculiar form of plastic surgery and now it’s caught on with all kinds of men! We’re talking about beard transplants! When he was younger and dreamed of looking like Diana Ross, Michael had electrolysis on his face to remove whiskers. Later in life, he yearned for that George Clooney “five o’clock shadow” and he actually had hair transplanted to his face. We were both shocked and revolted, but now the surgery has caught on among guys who want to fill in gaps and create designer stubble. Page Six says it’s all the rage among Brooklyn hipsters these days. Can beard weaves be far behind?

HAROLD RAMIS’S BRILLIANT “GROUNDHOG DAY” IS A CLASSIC

Not only did Harold Ramis come from Chicago, our home town, but he was responsible for one of our favorite movies of all time – Groundhog Day. Described as a “philosophical comedy” – it gave Bill Murray perhaps the best role of his lifetime. Who could ever forget Murray’s unlikeable character waking up EVERY morning to his clock radio playing Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” and reliving the day before? And the day repeated until he got it right. Harold Ramis was one of those rare smart AND funny comedy writers, and he will be missed. (Above, Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell)

JENNIFER LAWRENCE TO STAR IN “EAST OF EDEN” REMAKE

We admit we’re very fond of Jennifer Lawrence, but we just cannot imagine her starring in the Julie Harris role in a remake of John Steinbeck’s East of Eden. A REMAKE OF EAST OF EDEN? It sounds like an awful idea. Elia Kazan’s 1955 classic movie starring James Dean was as good as it gets. And what young actor would dare take the Dean role and risk comparison to an icon? The Hollywood Reporter says the remake is already in the works and the script is being customized for Jennifer. (Above Julie and James in a scene from the movie)

Adam Shulman Anne Hathaway Gym Work Out

ANNE HATHAWAY ONE-UPPED HER HUSBAND IN THE GYM

Anne Hathaway and her husband of two years, Adam Shulman, share a number of traits – among them- they coproduced her new movie Song One, and they are close to the same size. Adam is slender and Anne towers over him in heels. Our gym source informed us that Anne and Adam share a trainer who puts them both through their paces, taking turns on equipment at an LA gym. During a recent workout, Adam strained to complete his sets on an upper body machine. When it was Anne’s turn, she couldn’t help smirking as she ADDED weight with a clunk and a flourish, for HER sets on the same machine. Competitive?

BOY GEORGE IS BACK – AND HIS MAKEUP HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME

Boy George (with Culture Club) was so much fun in the 80’s that we’re glad to see him back! ”My God” is the second single from his comeback album “This is What I Do” and it’s mesmerizing in a fashiony kind of way. He seems to be preaching some form of tolerance in this song. Sometimes it’s not easy to look at a bearded man wearing lip gloss, but if anyone can pull it off, George can.

KRIS HUMPHRIES: THE FORGOTTEN MAN IS LIVING HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Kris Humphries is pictured above walking in Beverly Hills with two extremely tall friends. The Boston Celtics forward has put his 72 day marriage to Kim Kardashian totally behind him and doesn’t want to be reminded of it. Recently Kim had a skirmish with a foul mouthed teen in Beverly Hills and Kanye West came to her rescue and punched the guy. Later Kim said she was proud that Kanye stood up for her and implied that Kris wouldn’t have done the same. But Kris chose to ignore the comment and continue his happy life.

ALEC BALDWIN: DON’T GIVE UP – GET A GRIP!

We confess we are torn when it comes to Alec Baldwin. As a performer (such as in “Blue Jasmine”) he can be perfectly delightful. His off-camera antics provide fodder for endless gossip stories because he doesn’t know when to shut up. THAT we love. But then there’s his obnoxious elitist side. He’s on the cover of New York magazine boo-hooing about his lack of privacy. He whines dramatically that he’s even willing to give up show business and move away from New York if necessary for the “safety and peace of mind of his family.” But would he and his family really be happy if he retired and moved to the suburbs? Let’s face it, ALL of Alec’s problems stem from his lack of self- control – his temper. THAT will follow him everywhere.

THE JACKSON FOUR: ANOTHER HARE-BRAINED SCHEME?

What’s left of the Jackson brothers, Tito, Jackie, Germaine, and Marlon, are still looking for ways to cash in on their late brother Michael. Right now they’re thrilled to be working at Planet Hollywood, and while they’re in town the guys are taking meetings with moguls in hopes of getting backing to build a replica of Michael’s Neverland there. According to Norm Clarke, the brothers think that their Neverland (which would include a gift shop and auditorium) would be to Las Vegas what the incredibly popular Graceland is to Memphis. Of course, Graceland is not a replica – Elvis actually LIVED there. If the REAL Neverland were still intact, THAT might become a big draw, but it’s long gone…

LENA DUNHAM JUST FOUND OUT HER BOYFRIEND ONCE DATED SCARLETT JOHANSSON!

Lena Dunham, 27, was flabbergasted when she discovered her boyfriend Jack Antonoff, 29, dated Scarlett Johansson in high school. “Girls” creator Lena, told Page Six that she loves perusing the Tumblr blog Old Loves, just for fun, and was shocked to discover a photo (above) of Jack with Scarlett. They were high school sweethearts when they were both 17 at the Professional Children’s School in New York. And they made a cute couple. Just goes to show that Jack has eclectic taste in women.
