Woody Allen

IF “THOR” ISN’T YOUR CUP OF TEA, TRY “MIDNIGHT IN PARIS”

“Midnight in Paris” is probably the best reviewed movie in your multiplex today, so why aren’t people standing in line? Woody Allen is a master a making romantic comedies that, thankfully, are not dumb. They all have intellectual undertones. This is a sweet, sentimental story about a young man’s intense love for a city that takes us to unexpected places and is a feast for the eyes. (By the way, First Lady Carla Bruni’s appearance -above with Owen Wilson – is smart and appealing.) If you would love to be in Paris right now, see this movie because you’ll walk out feeling like you’ve been somewhere special – and you might be hungry for a crepe….

WOODY ALLEN WISHES HE COULD AFFORD TO FILM IN NEW YORK LIKE JENNIFER ANISTON

Woody Allen and Soon- Yi and their daughters Bechet and Manzie are in beautiful Oviedo, Spain, where he filmed much of Vicky Cristina Barcelona. He’s in Spain for the premier of his latest movie “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” with Naomi Watts, Antonio Banderas, and Josh Brolin. In Madrid, he announced that he can no longer afford to film in New York and that’s why his movies take place in Europe. It’s funny that Jennifer Aniston’s movies have big New York budgets and Woody’s don’t.

WOODY ALLEN DIRECTED FIRST LADY CARLA BRUNI-SARKOZY WITH GREAT CARE

France’s first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was a nervous nelly on the Paris set of Woody Allen’s new movie and had to repeat her simple scene 35 times! Carla is very excited about appearing in Woody’s film “Midnight in Paris” with Owen Wilson, but she admits she has little acting experience. Carla had a simple cameo appearance – no lines- where she walked out of a Paris grocery store with a baguette. Over and over again, she tried to make the small part special but couldn’t keep her eyes off the camera! Woody was gentle and respectful in his directing – she was surrounded by bodyguards and her husband President Nicolas was watching. Eventually Carla got it right and everyone relaxed.

WOODY ALLEN IS DIRECTING THE FIRST LADY OF FRANCE, CARLA BRUNI SARKOZY

Woody Allen took a break from filming “Midnight in Paris” (we have a feeling this title will change) to visit with his wife Soon-Yi and his daughters Bechet and Manzie. The movie stars Marion Cotillard, Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson, and Rachel McAdams, and significantly, the First Lady of France, Carla Bruni Sarkozy. It’s interesting because Woody is probably more popular in France nowadays, than their President Nicolas Sarkozy.

THE FENDIS ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET FOR WOODY ALLEN’S FAMILY

Italian designer Carla Fendi (Above, far right) invited Woody Allen, his wife Soon-Yi, and their daughters Bechet and Manzie out to lunch in Rome. Afterward, they all went shopping at the Fendi store. Tonight Woody is playing clarinet with his New Orleans Jazz Band at the Accademia Santa Cecilia near the Spanish Steps and they expect a big crowd.

WOODY ALLEN’S SUMMER PROJECT IS IN THE WORKS

There are things about Woody Allen that we don’t like, but we DO love to see his movies. Even his worst films have something redeemable about them. Woody writes stimulating dialog – and he’s prolific. We thoroughly enjoyed his last two features “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” and “Whatever Works.” Above, he’s filming his untitled “Summer Project” in the UK with Naomi Watts. He’s very secretive but the plot is supposedly about London’s high society.

Soon-Yi looks WAY more interested in the merchandise at Cartier than her husband Woody Allen does. The pair also window shopped at Chanel and Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris, but they ended up making purchases in an American bookstore. Woody is considering making his next movie in Paris, and hopes to take advantage of new tax incentives for filmmakers. Little known fact: he speaks French.

Woody Allen took his family, including his wife Soon-Yi, his sister Letty, and his two daughters Bechet and Manzie, for a walk on the Champs-Elysees. They were headed toward the Grand Palais Museum and the Picasso exhibition. It used to be nearly impossible to pry Woody out of his beloved New York City, now he spends half his time in Europe.

Woody Allen is still riding high after his successful “Vicky Cristina >Barcelona.” His next movie, due in 2009, is “Whatever Works” and stars Larry David as a Woody inspired neurotic character. Here he is with Soon-Yi and their adopted daughters Bechet and Manzie – the hapless girls were named after obscure jazz musicians.

WOODY ALLEN AND SOON-YI WALK LIKE THEY'RE IN NEW YORK

Woody Allen and Soon-Yi are staying at the Beverly Wilshire hotel so they decided to walk over to Mr Chow for dinner. Maybe they forgot the place is a paparazzi magnet. It’s interesting how confident Soon-Yi seems in her marriage- she never makes much of an effort to look particularly stylish or wear make up. Woody can fuss over his favorite leading lady Scarlett Johansson all he wants, and Soon-Yi never bats and eye.
