Sid Vicious

SID VICIOUS WAS ONCE INSPIRED BY SALVADOR DALI

Who knew Sid Vicious was a artist during his teen years? Art work created by the Sex Pistols icon when he was an art school student of 15 or 16 is being auctioned off at the Fame Bureau auction house in London. The collection of watercolors and sketches is in a book that he left with his late mother Anne Beverley. Anne never stopped trying to prove that her son was not guilty of murdering his girlfriend Nancy Spungen (photo above) in the Chelsea Hotel, but after Sid died at 21 of a heroin overdose, nobody bothered to reexamine the facts. Anne died in 1996 and these paintings went to the Sid Vicious estate.

IF SID VICIOUS DIDN’T DO IT, WHO KILLED NANCY?

To be honest, it never occurred to us that Sex Pistol Sid Vicious DIDN’T kill his groupie girlfriend Nancy Spungen at the Chelsea Hotel. The horrific ending to the Sid and Nancy story happened in 1978 when Sid woke up in a drug haze and found Nancy dead on the bathroom floor with a stab wound in her stomach. He was arrested for murder but overdosed before he could go on trial. So the murder was not investigated. Sid’s mother Anne Beverley begged British rock journalist Alan G Parker to prove that Sid didn’t kill Nancy. She has since died, but Alan went on to document dozens of interviews with people who knew Sid and Nancy to uncover more facts. The documentary “Who Killed Nancy?” is being released on Friday.

SINCE WHEN ARE DOC MARTENS POLITICALLY CORRECT ?

fourdeadrockerscut.jpgWhy are these Dr Martens dead rock star ads causing such an uproar? We think using dead rockers lounging in heaven in their Doc Martens is a brilliant idea. Offensive? These guys- Joe Strummer, Sid Vicious, Joey Ramone, and Kurt Cobain, THRIVED on being offensive when they were alive. That’s why we loved them. And they DID wear Doc Martens. The ads simply state “Dr Martens. Forever.” What’s so offensive about THAT? Granted, Cobain’s widow Courtney Love is disgruntled because British copyright laws who’t allow her to collect any money for this. THAT’s why she griped that the ad was in bad taste. We are really steamed at the cowardly Doc Martens CEO, David Suddens, who caved in to Love and GROVELED and apologized for his “tasteless” blunder, and pulled the ads. Then he FIRED the ad agency (Saatchi & Saatchi London) responsible for this brilliant campaign. What’s WRONG with these Dr Martens people?
