LOW RATINGS ON X FACTOR WIPED THE SMIRK OFF SIMON COWELL’S FACE

The always confident Simon Cowell, who can do no wrong, may have gotten a glimpse of the future and he doesn’t like it. We’ve had Britney Spears and Demi Lovato jammed down our throats for months in a huge publicity buildup for this season’s The X-Factor and we’re already overdosed on them. The show premiered this season to ratings a third LOWER than last year’s premier and the second show was even WORSE. Boo hoo. Maybe, just maybe, the public has had enough of overpaid, overhyped judges and mediocre talent. Prime time TV seems to have devolved into one gigantic continuous amateur hour. The novelty has worn off.

HONEY BOO BOO IS GROWING UP WAY TOO FAST

#honeybooboo #janetcharlton

Bad news for Honey Boo Boo. The ratings for “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” dropped 20% this week. Last week the show topped the Republican convention but this week it tied Clinton’s speech at the Democratic convention. You know what that means. Maybe the initial shock of the show is wearing off. And Honey Boo Boo is getting older – she’s seven now and has moved into a whole other beauty pageant category – the “Little Miss” 7 to 9 age range. Already she’s quite plump and Joy Behar figures because of her genetics and lifestyle, she’s doomed to become a fat kid and eventually an obese woman. Imagine a 400 pound Honey Boo Boo!

“BETHENNY” AN EASY PICK-UP

#bethenny #janetcharlton

Bethenny Frankel has finished filming her six week trial talk show and gone back home to New York, but she doesn’t have to be on pins and needles. The show is half-way through its run on six Fox stations so it’s on the air for three more weeks. Ratings dipped after the high rated first week, but not enough to jeopardize the show. Viewership is UP for the time period, especially among women from 18 to 49. Fox won’t make an announcement until the end of the run, but Alex Ben Block of the Hollywood Reporter says it’s a cinch for renewal. That means Bethenny will most likely have to uproot her family and leave her new Manhattan apartment and move to Hollywood!

MPAA IS RIGHT: PRODUCERS SHOULD BLEEP THE OBSCENITIES OUT OF “BULLY” AND SHUT UP

We are firmly behind the (Motion Picture Association of America) MPAA’s decision to give the documentary “Bully” an “R” rating because of f-words in the dialog. That means children under 17 can’t see the movie without a parent or guardian. Actually we are grateful that the MPAA is doing their job. Sure, it would be nice for teens to see this, but believe it or not, there ARE parents who don’t use profanity at home and hope their children won’t. Hearing it on the street and seeing the words used on TV or in movies are two very different things. Reality shows manage to bleep the crude words out of their soundtracks daily without spoiling the action. Why couldn’t Bully’s high and mighty producers do the same thing? They KNEW the words would earn an R rating and shouldn’t have asked for trouble. All this fuss to DEFEND the use of the f- word? The world would be better off with LESS crudity. Hang in there MPAA – somebody has to maintain decent standards!

CBS IS HURTING WITHOUT “TWO AND A HALF MEN”

Charlie Sheen may be having his ups and downs on his concert tour, but he is sorely missed at CBS. This week “Mike & Molly,” which is also produced by Chuck Lorre, moved into the Monday time slot formerly occupied by “Two and a Half Men.” The show did okay, but viewership was DOWN 42% from what “Two and a Half Men” did at that time last year. So the network is not happy – it was, in fact, Warner Brothers who fired Charlie, not CBS. His fans want Charlie’s show back on the air (Above, his bodyguard Chuck Zito is keeping an eye on Charlie)

PAULA ABDUL: OUT OF A JOB AGAIN

“Live To Dance” is not the show Paula Abdul hoped it would be. Ratings started off okay but they nose dived, and the finale had only 4.8 million viewers. There seemed to be nothing new or special about the show and it never created a buzz. Insiders say CBS is pulling the plug on season 2. Now that Paula’s unemployed, will Simon offer her a place on X Factor?

SOMEWHERE LARRY KING IS CACKLING: THE KARDASHIANS WERE A FLOP ON THE PIERS MORGAN SHOW

Piers Morgan took a little flak for pumping Kim and Kourtney Kardashian about their breasts (fake or real?) and Kim’s sex tape on his CNN show, but his tabloid assault didn’t lure much of an audience. The interview had tons of publicity before it aired, but the show got it’s lowest ratings yet. Morgan’s debut show with Oprah pulled in 2.1 million viewers and the Kardashians only had 498,000 viewers. Either the Kardashians are overexposed or the CNN audience just isn’t interested in reality stars. The Kardashians should probably stick to the E! channel where they are beloved.

DAVID HASSELHOFF: ALCOHOLICS ARE NO FUN

What a blow to his ego! Not many viewers tuned in for the premier of David Hasselhoff’s A&E reality show. He attracted a puny audience of 718,000 for the first episode and it dropped to 505,000 for the second half hour. The Washington Post described the show as “dull and transparently desperate.” We think the show flopped because people are not amused – but disgusted – by David’s alcoholism and the fact that he lies and denies. The show features his two daughters Taylor and Hayley who have long suffered from their father’s self indulgence. Apparently the sloppy drunk hamburger video didn’t enhance his image and people just don’t like him as much as they used to. Maybe the series will get better ratings in Germany.

WHY ARE SARAH AND BRISTOL PALIN SO POPULAR?

What IS it with these Palins? Once the most openly maligned family in America has turned everything around and now it seems they can do no wrong. Bristol continues to clump her way through “Dancing With The Stars” while far better dancers are voted off. And Sarah’s new show “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” broke the TLC ratings record for a premier, drawing five million viewers. The Hollywood Reporter says both fans and critics will find what they’re looking for on Sarah’s show. The Palin’s popularity continues to astonish us.

JUSTIN BIEBER’S FANATICAL FANS ABANDONED HIM THURSDAY NIGHT

A step BACK for Justin Bieber! Justin’s cameo on CSI’s Thursday premier did NOT pump up the ratings. The show usually debuts with 20 million viewers but despite high expectations, Justin only pulled in 14.6 million. The Mentalist beat CSI when Justin’s teenage fan base failed to tune in to see him act. (Despite his character’s problems, every hair was in place) It was a huge disappointment and it remains to be seen if Justin’s character will reappear on the show.
