PLAYING POLO WITH PRINCE WILLIAM CAN COST AN ARM AND A LEG

Prince William and Kate will only be spending three days in Southern California during their US visit in July, but some of William’s time will be on horseback. He’s a sucker for polo and when the Santa Barbara Polo Club invited him to their 100th anniversary weekend, he accepted. Our friend and royals watcher from London, Richard Mineards, who is now the society columnist for the Montecito Journal, had a hand in making this happen. Richard says that William and Kate will have a $4000 ticket fund raising event for charity as well as an exhibition polo game in which club members are invited to play with the future king for (estimated) $100,000. (Keep in mind some of the world’s wealthiest polo players have homes in Santa Barbara and they’ll be fighting for this opportunity.) William loves any excuse to play polo and all the money goes to William and Harry’s charities. We wonder if the royal pair will stay at Oprah’s house.

MADONNA SNUBBED: NO ROYAL WEDDING INVITATION

All that horseback riding and hunting that Madonna did in the English countryside with her then husband Guy Ritchie didn’t get her any closer to the royal family. Even her friendship with Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t open any doors to Buckingham Palace for the ambitious singer. In fact, it’s like she never spent all those years in the UK! Madonna became acutely aware of that fact when her ex Guy Ritchie WAS invited to Prince William and Kate’s royal wedding and she was NOT. It’s like a slap in the face, but the royals apparently never took to Madonna even though she tried her best to fit in. (Note that in photo above, Madonna is even wearing TWEED!)

THIS ROYAL WEDDING SOUVENIR IS FOR HARD-CORE FANS ONLY

And to think the Brits accused Americans of getting too carried away about the royal wedding! They’ve come up with the ultimate souvenir of the highly anticipated event. GDHA, the distributor for G.E. appliances, in the UK has introduced the Royal Commemorative Refrigerator. The 5’9” appliance has larger than life size images of William and Kate, making every visit to the kitchen a special event.

CAMP IT UP AT THE ROYAL WEDDING

Brits are accusing Americans of going crazier over William and Kate’s royal wedding than THEY are. An astonishing number of reporters and TV crews will be arriving from the US to cover the April 29 event. Visitors with tight budgets might be interested to hear that the Brits are turning Clapham Common park into a campsite for three days during the celebration. The pop-up campsite, dubbed Camp Royale, charges $100 for three nights (April 28 – 30) and features tents and all the expected camp amenities. There’s also an area for luxury RV campers

KATE MIDDLETON IS NOW A HOT COMMODITY

The more we see of Prince William’s fiancee Kate Middleton, the more impressed we are. She appears to be a great natural beauty with a model’s figure. Even her hair seems to be all hers. Designers everywhere are salivating at the prospect of having her wear their creations. Given her royal future, Kate will have to give up her fishnets, sequins, and baseball caps. We were particularly amused to learn that the Queen officially announced the couples modern engagement on Facebook and the royal Twitter site.
