QUEEN ELIZABETH: BACK IN THE SADDLE

Even the threat of Covid doesn’t get between Queen Elizabeth and her horses. We were surprised to see this photo of the 94 year old Queen riding at Windsor Castle with the head groom of her stables in some rainy weather this week. It so happens she rides frequently – sometimes every day- regardless of the weather. Elizabeth has been obsessed with horses her entire life and owns horses for breeding, riding, and racing – she keeps a sharp eye on her stables. A few years back she started riding ponies instead of horses – they are sturdier and closer to the ground. In the photo she’s riding her favorite Fell pony named Fern.

Bruce Springsteen’s daughter Jessica, 26, and her horse, both look gorgeous in this photo from Madrid Horse Week. She graduated from Duke University in 2014, and since then has been pursuing her horse jumping sport. Bruce and his wife Patti are often seen in the crowd cheering her on in various countries. Jessica HAS won numerous competitions around the world, and is active in to promoting horse sports in the US.

TAYLOR SWIFT HASN’T FORGOTTEN HER LOVE OF HORSES JUST BECAUSE SHE’S IN MANHATTAN

There’s no doubt that Taylor Swift LOVES living in New York. Who wouldn’t? She has a huge 20 million dollar Tribeca penthouse and an abundance of closets for all the shopping she does. It seems like she walks out of her building in a new outfit every day. Today she wore her English riding outfit – complete with boots, red jacket, and hat – she’s loved horseback riding since she was a child and probably just returned from a stable. She and a girlfriend stopped into her neighborhood Whole Foods to pick up a few things.

CHARLOTTE CASIRAGHI IS AN URBAN COWGIRL

This is Charlotte Casiraghi competing in the “Style” round of the Gucci Masters in Paris. Her fashion theme is “urban fancy” and she’s wearing a baseball cap, gold chains and ghetto hoops, a hoodie, torn jeans, and glitter sneakers. Her horse is decorated with a dollar sign matching hers around his neck, a baseball cap, and graffiti. We didn’t realize horse shows had a sense of humor. Bruce Springsteen’s daughter Jessica rode in the same show with a Western style theme.

CAVALLIA ODYSSEO FULFILLS YOUR EQUINE FANTASIES

We had an unexpectedly enchanting experience tonight and it didn’t happen in Hollywood – it took place in an enormous tent in Burbank, California. The show is called Cavalia Odysseo and it features incredible acrobats, aerialists, dancers, horse riders, music and vocalists, but the most captivating performers were the 67 beautifully trained horses. The best moments of this show featured these exquisite horses running free on stage in choreographed groups. It’s amazing how sensitive they were to subtle commands. Anyone who loves horses should see this show soon – it’s only in town for a few weeks…

COLIN FARRELL WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY

Once in a while acting isn’t all that easy. Colin Farrell is filming Winter’s Tale in New York and he rode a white horse for one scene. After that he had a huge bucket of water poured on his head and he had to crawl out of the ice cold water over and over for a scene. The movie, which also stars Will Smith and Russell Crowe, is a fantasy that takes place in 19th century Manhattan and present day. It features a thief, a dying girl, and a flying white horse.

HBO CANCELED “LUCK” BECAUSE OF THE RATINGS, NOT THE DEAD HORSES

HBO and Luck producers make themselves look like HEROES with incredible respect for animals by canceling the series after a third horse’s accidental death. But is that really the reason they shut the show down? Luck suffered disappointing ratings from its debut and never really caught on as HBO hoped it would. They hastily renewed the show anyway, and began filming the 2nd season quickly while the racetrack location was available. We think they were already feeling regrets when the third horse was injured and had to be euthanized and the negative publicity started spreading, further jeopardizing viewership. They had a meeting and decided the timing was perfect to cut their losses on the ailing show and look like heroes, not failures.

Charlotte, a writer and magazine editor, has been riding since she was a child. Here she’s competing in the jumping competition at the 2011 Gucci Masters – one of the most important equestrian events in the world. Charlotte happens to be the face of the Gucci Riding Collection.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN HAS COME A LONG WAY, BABY

Bruce Springsteen “The Boss” is rubbing elbows with high society in England! We didn’t realize he raised a posh daughter like Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco and Athina Onassis. Bruce’s 19 yer old daughter Jessica has risen way above her father’s working class New Jersey background and has become a nationally ranked equestrian. Her parents Bruce and Patti Scialfa watched as she rode in the Royal Windsor Horse Show in the UK and took FIRST place! (Bruce and Patti have 2 other kids- Evan, 21, and Sam, 17.)
