Colin Farrell is all made up to play his character “The Penguin” in New York and he looks like a whole different person. On this day he knew how it felt to be an unattractive man with no pretty women fluttering around him. Maybe for the first time. We remember back in the early 2000’s when handsome young Colin arrived in Hollywood, he was staying at the Chateau Marmont Hotel. I was writing for Star magazine and hotel employees kept calling me with wild stories about Colin. He was a girl magnet and doing a LOT of drinking and partying. All the young actresses and models loved him – and dated him – including Angelina Jolie, Carmen Electra, Rosario Dawson, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan etc. It never would have happened if he looked like THIS…

COLIN FARRELL AND Q’ORIANKA KILCHER: LONG TIME NO SEE

Colin Farrell was spotted taking a hike in Los Feliz with a long-ago leading lady Q’orianka Kilcher. Remember her? At the tender age of 14, she played Pocahontas and 28 year old Colin played John Smith in the Terrence Malick romantic drama The New World back in 2005. Their characters had a passionate romance in the film that historians don’t agree happened. They probably have more in common now than they did 17 years ago. Q’orianka has become an environmental and human rights activist (she’s also appearing in Yellowstone) and Colin gave up those notorious drinking binges and got interested in healthier activities like running.

COLIN FARRELL HAD A RADICAL MAKEUNDER TO PLAY THE PENGUIN

Batman has resumed filming in the UK – remember Batman himself Rob Pattinson tested positive for Covid (so he said) in September, and the set was closed down. Actors are being VERY cautious, as you can see by the plastic shield that Colin Farrell (yes, that’s HIM!) is holding. We can’t help but wonder why handsome Colin was hired to play The Penguin and has to endure HOURS in the makeup chair every day to look like THIS – a physically unappealing man. Are there no unattractive guys in Hollywood available for this role?

COLIN FARRELL: ST PATRICK’S DAY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

We have to admit that before he went into rehab in 2005, Colin Farrell was TONS of fun. In the early 2000’s, the Irish actor was in his 20’s and wildly celebrating his success in Hollywood. Everybody seemed to love him – Colin stayed at the Chateau Marmont Hotel and he visited every bar within walking distance on Sunset Strip. He turned on the Irish charm and had flings with whatever pretty actress he encountered, from Angelina Jolie to Demi Moore. The Chateau Marmont was a hotbed of gossip when he was in town– he even hooked up with Britney Spears there. He may not be quite as much fun as he was before rehab, but he’s still a cutie and now promoting his new movie, Tim Burton’s Dumbo.

Not long ago Colin Farrell was lamenting that he hadn’t had a girlfriend in five years and spent all his spare time with his two sons. He’s not alone any more – he was photographed ducking out of Le Conversation in West Hollywood with a new cute girlfriend. When Colin, now 39, first arrived in Hollywood he was hailed as the Next Big Thing and he was QUITE a player. His motto was “drugs, sex, and whiskey” and he indulged like a madman. He swept many females off their feet – including Britney Spears! Rehab followed, and when Colin stopped drinking he lost a lot of his playful personality and became very intense. Now he’s doing yoga. Who would have guessed?

Once in a while acting isn’t all that easy. Colin Farrell is filming Winter’s Tale in New York and he rode a white horse for one scene. After that he had a huge bucket of water poured on his head and he had to crawl out of the ice cold water over and over for a scene. The movie, which also stars Will Smith and Russell Crowe, is a fantasy that takes place in 19th century Manhattan and present day. It features a thief, a dying girl, and a flying white horse.

Now we KNOW he’s reformed. We remember a few years back when Colin Farrell, 36, would stay at the Chateau Marmont and walk to all the bars on Sunset for some heavy duty partying. The sexy Irish actor ended up with quite an assortment of short but spectacular flings with various women – including Britney Spears! In those days he was a BIG drinker and not that difficult to pick up, if you know what we mean. Of course, he had a few other bad habits too. Now he says he’s given up whiskey and cocaine and he’s taken up yoga. And he really enjoys it! As we said, now we KNOW he’s reformed.

TOTAL RECALL IS HIGHLY FORGETTABLE

Colin Farrell is great to look at, but the new Total Recall remake can’t hold a candle to the 1990 original. The first version featured a fascinating futuristic society with novel inventions and gimmicks galore. We remember seeing Arnold‘s character watching a flat screen TV at home and realizing we would have one someday. The new version has Colin and his wife living in a murky, dismal, wet underground slum. (So dark it might as well have been 3D) Sharon Stone was unforgettable as the traitorous wife in the original and what a SHOCK when Arnold killed her! Colin Farrell never managed to get rid of his wife Kate Beckinsale and she kept popping up to assault him over and over. (Why is it so hard to swallow skinny model types as hired killers?) We couldn’t figure out WHY Kate’s character was unkillable until we realized her husband directed the movie and enlarged her role to costar. Numbed by cartoonish stunts and violence, we could barely locate the plot. Another lame remake…

Colin Farrell is being groomed to pick up where Robert Pattinson leaves off in the eventual demise of the Twilight series. In August, “Fright Night” will be released and Colin does make a sexy bad boy vampire. Only this one is no vegetarian – he wears black t-shirts and jeans and kills high school students.
