Even Princess Caroline of Monaco can’t resist a SALE sign. After having lunch at Balthazar restaurant in New York with a female friend, she noticed the MoMA store sale across the street and ran over to pick up a few things. Caroline’s oldest son Andrea Casiraghi recently announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend Colombian heiress Tatiana Santo Domingo. (Her grandfather is the second richest man in Colombia.) Caroline’s younger son Pierre is suing that New York nightclub where he and his friends were beaten up in a brawl. (Above, Andrea and Tatiana)

Princess Caroline of Monaco’s daughter Charlotte Casiraghi, 25, took a short cut through the stadium seats at an equestrian tournament in Switzerland. She and her well dressed horse performed their jumps beautifully, but the talk of the event was her new older boyfriend. Charlotte has taken up with 40 year old French Moroccan actor/comedian Gad Elmaleh and her family is less than thrilled, even though Gad had a small role in Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris.”

Charlotte, a writer and magazine editor, has been riding since she was a child. Here she’s competing in the jumping competition at the 2011 Gucci Masters – one of the most important equestrian events in the world. Charlotte happens to be the face of the Gucci Riding Collection.

Charlotte Casiraghi (daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco) and her friend Athina Onassis, 26, are buddies on the horse jumping circuit. Athina is the daughter of Christina Onassis and the only surviving descendant of Aristotle Onassis. (It’s nice that she turned out tall and slim because her mother was always tormented by her weight.) Athina married an older, but handsome Brazilian showjumper, and she is raising his two children in Brazil where she is dedicated to a “simple, healthy life,” but she takes the kids to school in a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce.

If it’s any consolation to the multitudes of stranded passengers in Europe, royalty is no better off than you are. Princess Grace of Monaco’s granddaughter Princess Charlotte Casiraghi, 23, and her boyfriend Alex Dellal were stranded in Rome. Since no planes were flying due to the volcanic ash, the couple left the airport and joined the mob scene at the train station in Rome.

PRINCESS STEPHANIE HAS A HISTORY WITH MICHAEL JACKSON

Monaco National Day brings out the royals and we were pleased to see Princess Caroline, 52, and her sister Stephanie, 44, on a balcony watching festivities. Back in the 80’s, these wild and beautiful daughters of Grace Kelly were insanely popular and stalked by paparazzi. Together they had five marriages and seven children. (Stephanie refused to name the father of her youngest child.) At one point Stephanie moved to Los Angeles to become a pop star and she recorded a song “In The Closet” with Michael Jackson for his “Dangerous” album. She used the alias “Mystery Girl.” Both are now split from their husbands and the sisters seem closer than ever.
