While Jessica Simpson is in New York showing off her “astounding” (?) weight loss, her mother Tina visited a divorce lawyer and instructed him to file in California. It may be a done deal as you read this, or still in the works. Joe Simpson and Tina have been separated for a few months, coincidentally or not, since he was caught sending “suspicious” messages on Twitter. Year ago, Tina and Joe divided up their daughter’s career management – Joe managed Jessica’s show business career and Tina took over her merchandising business. Jessica’s acting career fizzled but her branded merchandise has brought in hundreds of millions of dollars, making her mother VERY RICH. Joe has leased a condo on the beach in the Venice area and Tina is still living in their Encino house.

FASHION STAR GOT IT RIGHT: KARA LARICKS IS A WINNER!

Last night’s Fashion Star winner, Kara Laricks, was a standout from day one and the only contestant oozing originality. Great designers usually have a unique and individual personal style, and former schoolteacher Kara was a standout compared to her competition. The series started off a bit dull because designers had to please middle of the road department stores and their rather unimaginative customers. Kara always managed to squeeze fashion forward surprises into her work and her modest attitude was refreshing. Best of all, She LOOKS like a fashion winner! On another note, this show also made us appreciate Jessica Simpson’s spontaniety.

Nothing gets between eating-for-two Jessica Simpson and a good meal. Despite a windy rainstorm in LA, she and her fiance Eric Johnson lunched at the Boneyard Bistro in Sherman Oaks. The eatery specializes in barbecued ribs, fried mac and cheese, and Kobe beef chili filled donuts! Jessica’s filmy sari-style dress got soaked on the way back to the car but apparently it was worth it.

Most recently we had to endure seeing Jessica Simpson on the cover of Elle. Pregnancy does not become her – she looks enormous and uncomfortable with her clothes ON. If Jessica peels off the pounds she’ll take home three million dollars – nice motivation! Hopefully she won’t feel this gives her the right to eat like a horse while expecting.

As Jessica Simpson gets bigger every day, her father Joe is frantically trying to close a deal to sell the “exclusive” story of her pregnancy to a magazine for $500,000. In other words, for half a million dollars People or US Weekly will have a photo of plump Jessica admitting she is, indeed, pregnant. So far no one is interested in the deal. For one thing, we already KNOW she’s pregnant. And apparently she is not in Angelina Jolie’s league when it comes to baby news, so the price tag is way too high. It’s a reality check for Jessica.
