Beyonce’s formidable performance on The Grammys started us wondering about her hair. She shook her head and spun her locks around in circles like Linda Blair in “The Exorcist” and it stayed intact, like it always does. It’s no secret that Beyonce wears wigs, but HOW do they stay anchored to her head through a performance like THAT?
Everything good about this year’s Grammy telecast was directly due to female participation and domination. NO ONE could top Pink’s amazing acrobatic performance in the sky. She can not only sing (her voice was rich and powerful) but she can do it spinning upside down thirty feet up in the air, AND soaking wet! She never missed a note and her athletic moves were immaculate. She made every guy on the show look drab and boring. As always, Beyonce was lively and letter perfect – we love that she never says no and performs EVERYWHERE. Lady Gaga’s entrance in her “rings of ******’ outer space frock pumped life into the red carpet and kept viewers tuned in. These girls gave the formerly male dominated Grammys the best ratings they’ve gotten in YEARS.
We thought Lady Gaga cleaned up on New Year’s Eve, pulling in $300,000 for her Fontainebleau show in Miami, but that’s not the case. Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich paid 1.7 million dollars for entertainment at HIS New Year’s bash in St Barts – Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, and Prince, each raked in over a half million dollars to perform for 250 guests at Abramovich’s 90 million dollar St Barts estate. The whole party cost FIVE million dollars. According to the NY Post, this is the same guy who ran up a tab of over $47,000 for ten people for a meal at a New York restaurant.
Hell-bent on success, Lady Gaga is EVERYWHERE promoting her music. She left Berlin in the morning and spent five hours in London at a CD signing before she flew off to France that evening. Eventually she’ll end up at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 13, where she’s performing and has 9 nominations. Beyonce, incidentally, is also performing and ALSO has 9 nominations. Although they’ve been together for years, Beyonce and Jay-Z never acknowledged that they were dating and they still haven’t admitted that they are married, in spite of the license being filed with the state. This couple loves to keep secrets. Since the wedding was so hasty, everybody seems to assume it was a shotgun marriage and Beyonce is pregnant.

Somehow we can’t imagine that Beyonce’s long-awaited wedding to Jay-Z fulfilled her girlish dreams. A white tent on the roof of her boyfriend’s apartment building with thirty people? Is that all there is?

This picture is noteworthy for two reasons- first, you don’t see photos of Beyonce and Jay Z out in New York very often, for some reason. Here they are leaving The Spotted Pig. Second, – it’s nice to see Beyonce not so overdone with all the hair and glitz. She looks pretty and natural.

She’s set to appear on the main floor of the store on 34th Street at 12 noon Thursday for the launch of Emporio Armani Diamonds fragrance. Strictly professional? Or a pack of lies? We’re hearing that Beyonce’s boyfriend Jay-Z actually IS having a romance with his pride and joy Rihanna. Their collaboration on Umbrella resulted in a gigantic hit and fueled dormant romance rumors. Jay started off as Rhianna’s mentor and he even picked out which guys she was allowed to go out with. But nowadays he’s spending more time with his young discovery and less time with Beyonce. (Keep in mind he and beyonce never admitted they were an item.) And here’s a real twist: We’ve been told that Beyonce isn’t terribly upset about it because SHE has a massive crush on Prince and they are secretly seeing each other. This whole group is so secretive we may never learn the truth!
We couldn’t help but laugh when we heard a comment made by Beyonce recently. Keep in mind, she lost a lot of weight to play her Diana Ross inspired character, Deena, in Dreamgirls, and she was led to believe that this would be the role that put her on the acting map and get her all sorts of recognition. But in fact, Jennifer Hudson’s hefty character Effie had more drama and better songs and SHE’S getting all the awards and attention. It’s been a big disappointment for Beyonce and an acquaintance tattled that in a weak moment she sighed “Sometimes I wish I had GAINED weight to play Effie instead.”
