KANYE WEST OR VIRGIL ABLOH: WHICH ONE IS THE GENIUS?

Kanye West and Virgil “Off-White” Abloh are both from Chicago and Kanye made his fortune in the rap world while Virgil scored in fashion and design. Kanye recognized his friend’s talent and hired him as “creative director” for his own Weezy shoe and fashion business. Abloh has an IIT Master’s Degree in Architecture and designs for Louis Vuitton, Off-White, Ikea, and Nike. Coincidentally or NOT, Kanye’s popular designs are extremely similar to Virgil’s. Yet, Kanye is the one who calls himself a “creative genius” and “the greatest artist of all time!” We have the feeling that without Virgil Abloh, Kanye would still be just a rapper…

KANYE WEST DELIVERS HIS RAP IN GOSPEL FORM

His energy level is over the moon lately as Kanye West continues to crank out operas and conduct massive church services in cities across the country. His bragging about being “the greatest artist that God ever created” does make one wonder about his mental health. Kanye continues to earn shocking amounts of money from his footwear and apparel (more than from his music) – he calls himself a billionaire. He also owns lots of property, so we can’t help wondering if his new friendship with prosperous televangelist Joel Osteen has SOMETHING to do with the fact that churches don’t pay taxes…(and they SHOULD!)

SIZE MATTERS: KANYE WEST AND KIM KARDASHIAN

Kanye West is along for the ride in New York where Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are appearing at the New York Times DealBook Conference. Kim and Kris were interviewed about the growing role of media influencers in the fashion business. (The family’s combined number of followers is 600 million!) They are bombarded with offers to promote items on Instagram and talked about the process of accepting the right ones. Kim seems to have had her lips freshly plumped for the occasion and we are always amused by the fact that Kanye’s clothing gets BIGGER each time we see him (XXXL?) while Kim’s clothes get smaller and tighter. Those open toe sandals must be chilly in New York…

KIM KARDASHIAN IS JUST LIKE THE REST OF US

Born-again Kanye West has been hyperactively promoting his Jesus Is King album and oversharing with every media person he can find. He’s talked about wanting seven kids “The richest thing you can have is as many children as possible,” while Kim has drawn the line at the four kids they already have. Kanye says he’s not interested in going out at night any more – he prefers to stay home with his family. “We eat dinner and play with the kids and put them to bed, and then we go to bed. And then I read the bible and my wife watches Dateline!”

KANYE WEST: JESUS AND FASHION DON’T MIX

Now that Kanye West has found Jesus, has he lost interest in fashion? Kanye’s Yeezy collection has disappeared off the racks, and he seems to have stopped producing the collection. Kanye and Kim showed up at the fashion /charity event called FGI Night of Stars Gala in New York Friday, and Kim was glitzily attired for the black tie event, but Kanye wore two shades of denim and looks uncomfortable. Has he forsaken Virgil Abloh for Jesus?

IS KANYE WEST STILL A FASHION DESIGNER?

Kanye West oozes self confidence when it comes to his “artistic talents,” but we haven’t seen any new fashion collections lately. Kanye’s monochromatic collections a few years ago were met with considerable interest and admiration, although they had more than a passing resemblance to the designs of Givenchy’s Riccardo Tischi and Off White’s Virgil Abloh. Maybe those “comparisons” discouraged Kanye, because for the past few years he’s been concentrating on Adidas sneakers. We WERE surprised to see Kanye’s label on a collection of high heels (?) – they looked a LOT like what Kim Kardashian already has in her closet. Meanwhile, self-proclaimed designer Kanye is only seen in hoodies and baggy sweats these days – whatever the weather or the occasion. (Above, Kanye arrived for a party at Craig’s restaurant)

Busted Church Kanye West Police

KANYE WEST “CHURCH” SERVICES BUSTED BY COPS!

Looks like some of Kanye West’s Calabasas neighbors aren’t crazy about gospel music, because they called the cops Sunday, complaining that it was too LOUD! Kanye’s invitation only “church” services are held outdoors and a very large choir accompanies the musicians. Maybe the choir just got TOO BIG, but when police arrived to ask them to turn down the volume, the celebrities couldn’t get away fast enough – Chris Rock and his daughters, Courtney Love, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Rick Rubin etc scooted to their cars. Do you suppose they pass a collection plate around during these services?

NORTH WEST IS READY FOR HER SELFIE

Kanye West’s Sunday “church services” are becoming quite a social event for the family and invited celebrities. The weekly events are held outdoors in Calabasas and consist of Kanye and his musical friends (Kid Cudi etc) singing gospel songs and songs converted to gospel, accompanied by a full choir. It’s not a particularly religious event and most likely the purpose it to create excitement for an upcoming gospel inspired Kanye West album. This week’s highlight was North West, 5, in a cocktail dress with feathers and a full face of Kardashian makeup…

MAYBE KANYE WEST ISN’T THE CREATIVE GENIUS HE THINKS HE IS

We’ve been seeing a plethora of designer puffy jackets of all kinds this winter so we were a bit fascinated by Off-White’s puffy jumpsuit for men. Perfect for cold wet weather. Off-White’s designer is Virgil Abloh – he was Creative Director for Kanye West and actually designed Kanye’s clothing collections, despite the fact that Kanye declared HIMSELF “a creative genius.” Abloh moved on and recently became head of menswear at Louis Vuitton, and Kanye was NOT thrilled. Maybe that’s why Kanye has been concentrating on shoes instead of clothing lately…

Balenciaga Kanye West Shopping

KANYE WEST UNDERESTIMATED HIS POPULARITY- FOR A CHANGE

Kanye West thought he’d slip into Balenciaga in New York and pick up a few things without being noticed. No such luck. Word got out fast that he was there, and a huge crowd started to gather outside, ogling him while he browsed. Police came to investigate, and they ended up escorting Kanye and his purchases back to his hotel.
