Thanks, Page Six, for mentioning our call to readers to boycott Albertson’s because of their spokesperson Patricia Heaton‘s stance on stem cell research. Yes, she happens to be a neighbor of ours, but we are on opposite sides of the fence on this issue. Judging from the overwhelming response to this item, people are EXTREMELY passionate about the Michael J. Fox TV ad supporting research. It seems there are at LEAST ten times as many people in FAVOR of research as against it. And they are EAGER to boycott! Readers can vent their feelings on Albertson’s website by clicking HERE or calling 1-877-932-7948. As for us, we no longer walk our dogs past Patricia’s house – just in case!

  16. Regarding the response that Albertson’s sent Janet and others (apparently the same one), they look really stupid now. They are saying that Patricia Heaton is an actress and that’s why they hired her. For all we know, she might not be caught dead shopping there, she’s just getting paid to say that shit. I can’t stand here either. She has that shitty voice that grates on your nerves and she always seems like she’s on speed or something.

    And to everyone who is screaming “religious right”… there are many agnostics and atheists who agree with Patricia that it the amendment is poorly done and should not stand as written.

  20. I only wish there was an Albertson’s in my neck of the woods–they would have a new shopper. What’s with all the hardcore namecalling? Damn. I feel like my mother but, “Language, ladies!!” We are all entitled to an opinion and to exercise the right to voice it. I think we need to get over ourselves, celebrities especially!
    On an odd note, I would be a little irritated with the Streisands of the world for making me pay hundreds of dollars and then having political skits, etc. instead of singing. I readily admit I’m conservative so maybe she irks me more than the average, but I think it would be poor form for a conservative entertainer (is there such a thing?) to do as well. I love Streisand but I will definitely take her recent advice and stay home and listen to her records instead (not like I have the money to dish out anyway for her concerts, sigh).

I can’t help but think that if enough people write, Albertsons would feel that employing Patricia is just not worth the hassle.

  46. um…. it seems to me that the majority of posters on this website seem to be under the mistaken impression that stem cell research and therapies would not be legal if it weren’t for this initative. Well, they already are. There already is stem cell research being conducted all across this country that MAY or MAY NOT save lives. The pharmaceutical companies have targeted Missouri and are trying to get this initative passed which, when you really do the reading, legalizes human cloning. It claims to outlaw human cloning, but under the definitions, it misrepresents the definition of cloning, which is in DIRECT CONTRAST to what was ruled in the Missouri Appeals Court.
    So, you can boycott Albertsons, hate Patricia Heaton, whatever. It’s politicians that throw this into the mix, knowing full-well that people are going to get up in arms about what they think it means and vote for them because they don’t have their facts right. YOU PEOPLE, INCLUDING YOU, JANET CHARLTON, HAVEN’T THE FAINTEST IDEA WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT. GET A CLUE! READ SOME WEBSITE OTHER THAN THE PRO-AMENDMENT 2 WEBSITES!!! Know what the REAL issues are! Educate yourselves!! Missourians ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TO STEM CELL RESEARCH AND THERAPIES!!!!!
    We, all across this country, have ACCESS to research and therapies. Anybody ever hear of — Bone Marrow Transplants? anybody? anybody? Yes, sir! It’s an EXTREMELY successful therapy that involves, what?, that’s right, stem cells! As last time I did research on the subject, it was legal in all 50 states? That’s right! Amendment 2 wants to go after embroynic cells when the most successful PARKINSONS and Multiple Sclerosis treatments involve cells from the actual patients themselves!!! (It’s called adult-stem-cell regenerative medicine, look it up) And don’t even get me started on unbilical cord blood.
    Would you rush out to vote yes on a bill that guarantees clean air and water? Sure!! What if on the second page, it says that in the process of cleaning that air and water, it’s a process that kills all wildlife? Would you vote for it then?

Now this silly twat(Heaton) is speaking out against Sandra Fluke- a georgetown law student-for speaking up for birth control! Heaton continues to show her stupidity, and lack of intellect-as well as the ignoramus of the right wing! I am with the poster that suggested that we give them Montana!! I have been saying this for years!!! I live on the East Side of Cleveland, and I have been praying for years that Ohio would annex itself, other than the Greater Cleveland area to West Virginia and Kentucky!!!
