Has anyone EVER looked more delighted to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Sofia Vergara can’t contain her joy. Her Modern Family costars were there for the ceremony – as well as her own family, including fiancée Joe Manganiello. Mercifully absent was her vindictive former fiancée Nick Loeb who might have ruined the event if he’d shown up waving a test tube.

It’s always nice to see someone who really DESERVES it, get a star on the Walk of Fame. Austrian actor Christoph Waltz was “discovered” by Quentin Tarantino (above left) and received an Oscar for his memorable role in “Inglourious Basterds.” His “Django Unchained” costar Samuel L. Jackson (above right) also showed his support at the ceremony. You can next see Christoph in “Big Eyes” which is coming out at Christmas.

She seems like one of the nicest celebrities In Hollywood and Mariska Hargitay, 49, is always supportive of women’s causes. The whole cast of her show “Law & Order: SVU” showed up when she got her well-deserved star on the Hollywood Boulevard. Also present – her family, husband Peter Hermann and their three children August, Amaya, and Andrew. Especially sweet was the fact that her star was right next to her mother Jayne Mansfield’s star. A considerably cleaned up Johnny Depp turned up on Hollywood Boulevard for producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s Walk of Fame ceremony. Jerry produced Johnny’s Pirates of the Caribbean series and the Lone Ranger. Tom Cruise also showed up (we wonder if Tom and Johnny are acquainted) because Jerry produced Top Gun and Days of Thunder. Jennifer Lopez stopped traffic on Hollywood Boulevard today – she looked ultraglamorous when she got her own star on the Walk of Fame. Say what you will about her, when she shows up, she always looks sensational. Her boyfriend Casper Smart was there to hold her hand along with Pitbull and several members of her family. Her star is located in front of the W Hotel which is right by the subway entrance so it will see plenty of action.

We’ve grown so accustomed to borderline celebrities being added to the Walk of Fame that it’s almost a shock when a bona fide MOVIE STAR adds his hand and foot prints to the cement. Robert DeNiro has softened up with age – there was a time when he would rather have died than be involved in such a public display in Hollywood. After all, he was a serious New York actor. He craved privacy, not adoration. But he’s grown up and become a more public figure and perhaps more grateful. He is a real MOVIE STAR like the James Stewarts and Carole Lombards of yesteryear and we are glad to have him. (Above, Grace Hightower gives her husband a smooch.)

This is a first. Victoria Beckham actually looks like she doesn’t want to be noticed. She attended the Walk of Fame ceremony for Simon Fuller and literally melted into the crowd. Pregnant Victoria looks younger with her longer hair (is it real?) and she’s wearing a loose black outfit that doesn’t scream “look at me.”

Johnny Depp seems to be inching way from his “Pirates” look and assuming a slightly cowboy flair, judging by this photo from Hollywood Blvd. Johnny presented his Pirates of the Caribbean costar Penelope Cruz with her star on the Walk of Fame. We can’t think of a better way to receive a star.
A great injustice against Hollywood has been perpetrated by the owner of Grauman’s Chinese Theater or the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce – they allowed basketball player Kobe Bryant to add his handprints to the cement in front of Grauman’s . HELLO – Grauman’s and the Walk of Fame are intended for performers, writers, movie makers, and people in show business! What the heck is going ON here? Kobe is NOT an actor. Why should his prints share space with Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, and Bette Davis? Wouldn’t his prints be more appropriate outside of the Staples Center? It’s a travesty and a crime.

CSI’s William Petersen celebrated his departure from the show by getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After nine years, Petersen walked away from the CBS hit series and an estimated salary of $600,000 an episode. Best of all, he got rid of that facial hair! He wants to try something new. Petersen’s star is located right in front of the oldest restaurant in Hollywood, Musso and Frank.
