TOM CRUISE KEEPS CRANKING OUT UNAPPEALING MOVIES

Movie trailers often fill us with desire to see the movie as soon as possible, but the trailer for Tom Cruise’s “Oblivion” does just the opposite. We’ll spend our money elsewhere. The trailer make the IMAX science fiction film look very heavy on special effects and light on character and plot. Closer inspection revealed the movie is based on a comic book. (Yes, a graphic novel IS a comic book!) No WONDER we were turned off by the murky look and confusing plot. Will Tom’s fans come out for this one? He needs a hit after the disappointing “Rock of Ages” and “Jack Reacher.”

NEW YORKERS ARE DISGUSTED WITH WILL SMITH’S OSTENTATION

Residents and shopkeepers in the Soho neighborhood of New York are complaining bitterly about “Men in Black III” star Will Smith’s GIGANTIC personal trailers blocking their streets. Production vehicles are always a nuisance on location shoots, but Smith has TWO 53 foot two story trailers with 22 wheels, that house 1,150 sq feet of unbelievably luxurious living space each, just for himself. (One contains a full size gym.) According to the New York Post, Smith is also renting a five bedroom apartment in the neighborhood for $25,000 a month. Shops are completely blocked by the massive trailers and residents are upset by the noise and gas fumes. Neighbors think Smith should think beyond his superstar needs and consider the impact on others. There was a time when Will would have been embarrassed by such self-indulgence.

SORRY ANDERSON, VINCE VAUGHN KNOWS WHAT HE’S TALKING ABOUT

We were NOT upset like Anderson Cooper was by the use of the word “gay” in the trailer for Vince Vaughn’s movie “Dilemma.” And frankly, we don’t think it has anything to do with bullying homosexuals. We’ve heard and seen way more outrageous gay oriented humor on Saturday Night Live and both gays and straights found it funny.
Let’s get specific: The opening scene of the trailer in question is set in a board room where Vaughn is delivering a presentation about electric cars and says, “Electric cars are gay. I mean, not homosexual gay, but my-parents-are-chaperoning the dance gay.”
Is there a gay person out there offended by this? Is the word “gay” destined to be forbidden? It was censored right out of the trailer!
Vince Vaughn obviously agrees with us – he released this statement today:
“Let me add my voice of support to the people outraged by the bullying and persecution of people for their differences, whatever those differences may be. Comedy and joking about our differences breaks tension and brings us together. Drawing dividing lines over what we can and cannot joke about does exactly that; it divides us. Most importantly, where does it STOP.”
