Ronald Reagan

RONALD REAGAN’S STOVE CAN NOW BE YOURS (FOR A GOOD CAUSE!)

While browsing eBay for midcentury items, we came upon this amazing stove from the home of Ronald Reagan. After Nancy Reagan’s death, the Bel Air house was sold and most contents auctioned off. Apparently this stove was too large for the auction so it was donated to the Junior Blind Foundation. Alas, it’s too big for our kitchen! Since proceeds go to the charity so it’s probably a tax write-off. It looks like it’s from the 50’s – this O’Keefe and Merritt stove features 6 burners, 2 ovens, a broiler and warming oven – a bonanza of cooking potential! The auction starts at $5000. We can just imagine Ronnie scrambling eggs in his bathrobe…

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE WHAT MARGARET THATCHER DID FOR HER COUNTRY

Another loss we cannot ignore is the death of one of our personal heroes, former UK Prime Minsiter Margaret Thatcher. She paved the way for women in politics and if there is a female president in our lifetime, it will be thanks to her. How can you NOT love a woman who stood for less government and lower taxes? She disciplined the unions and encouraged free enterprise above big government. Thatcher rescued Britain from ruin and led the country into a renaissance. We eagerly anticipate the first female president in THIS country. (Above, Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan.)

SHOCKER: JOHN LENNON WAS A FAN OF RONALD REAGAN!

We were utterly fascinated to learn that when John Lennon died in 1980 he had become a die-hard Ronald Reagan fan! According to Gawker.com, Fred Seaman, who worked for Lennon as his personal assistant for the last two years of his life, revealed in a new documentary that Lennon liked to argue with left-wing radicals who reminded him of his former self. John had met Reagan once and made it clear that if he were an American he would have voted for him. According to the assistant, John had evolved into a very different person in 1979 and 80 than he was back in the 60’s when he promoted love and peace. He was almost embarrassed by his naive and youthful notions. (We have to agree with Lennon, Ronald Reagan wasn’t perfect, but he was closer to perfect than any other politician we’ve known)

RONALD REAGAN: OUR ALLTIME FAVORITE PRESIDENT

We cannot allow the 100th birthday of the late great President Ronald Reagan pass without note. He’s pictured here with Nancy at their ranch in Santa Barbara. Ronald Reagan was an accomplished governor and a brilliant president. We never doubted that he was a man of good character and decency. A rare find in politics. He even loved his wife. We interviewed his rebellious daughter Patti once and she admitted she never appreciated her father until long after he was out of office.

RONALD REAGAN IS RETURNING TO THE BIG SCREEN

Hollywood names are being tossed around with varied opinions about who should star in the feature film of iconic President Ronald Reagan’s life. It’s simply called “Reagan” and the movie begins with the 1981 assassination attempt and flashes back and forward in his life. The producer Mark Joseph promises it will be nothing like the unflattering 2003 miniseries starring James Brolin. The Hollywood Reporter speculates that Zac Efron, Chris Pine, or James Franco might do Reagan justice, but we think an unknown actor with no baggage would be far more satisfying.

CRISTIANO RONALDO IS NAMED AFTER RONALD REAGAN

Cristiano Ronaldo, the highest paid footballer in the world, (and maybe the best looking) is pictured here watching a Spain VS USA basketball game in Madrid with his model girlfriend Irina Shayk. (Ronaldo is actually his middle name – his father named him after Ronald Reagan.) The 25 year old athlete became a single father in July when he gained custody of a baby boy born to an unnamed American woman. It’s funny how he is totally wrapped up in watching the game while his girlfriend strikes model poses.
