Didn’t Melanie Griffith and her daughter Dakota Johnson, 22, read our warning that mothers and daughters who party together end up in “bad places?” (Just ask Rumer Willis, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and Lindsay Lohan!) Melanie and Dakota were photographed leaving Chateau Marmont the other night and they both looked reasonably composed, however. Melanie has a new drama series on Lifetime “The American Housewife,” and Dakota has a role in the “21 Jump Street” makeover.

Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas still have a good time together after all these years. Antonio was honored at a Univision event in Miami and the couple posed for some funny photos. They’ve been married for 15 years – amazing for Hollywood, and still seem quite bedazzled by each other. Melanie has been in rehab at least once and Antonio is always there for her. They still live in their big Hancock park home with Melanie’s kids and their daughter Stella.

Mother and daughter went shopping at the Agent Provocateur lingerie store in West Hollywood. Five years ago Dakota (her father is Don Johnson) appeared as Miss Golden Globe on the award show and since then has appeared in five movies – including the upcoming “21 Jump Street.” Mel and Dakota’s male companion carried the pink bags full of sexy undies from the store.

We haven’t seen her onscreen for awhile, but she has a new movie coming out called “Yellow,” written and directed by Nick Cassavetes. It’s a dramedy about a woman with a drug problem and her extended involved family. The cast is large and varied- including Ben Foster, Riley Keough, and Sienna Miller.

THE COACHELLA MUSIC FESTIVAL ATTRACTS ALL KINDS

Much fuss is being made over Adrian Grenier’s new short haircut. We think it does wonders for his eyes and updates his look. Besides, he plays an ACTOR on “Entourage” and real actors don’t have exactly the same haircut year after year – unless they’re not working! When Adrian saw the paparazzi coming, he handed his drink to his female companion.

Melanie Griffith was chatting with musician/actor Michael Des Barres (who seemed to be keeping a low profile with that scarf on his head) when she spotted the photographer and pointed him out. Michael has never been known to avoid a camera. Little known fact: Back in the 90’s after Freddie Mercury died, Michael was invited to take his place as lead singer with “Queen” but he turned the offer down, saying he wasn’t the right type.

QUENTIN TARANTINO INVITED MOST OF HOLLYWOOD TO “INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS” PARTY

Hollywood parties often attract the same old crowd, but Quentin Tarantino hosted a party celebrating the many Oscar nominations of “Inglourious Basterds” and he invited a truly diverse crowd, with many faces we don’t often see. Daryl Hannah turned up with her new boyfriend, Paul Blackthorne, who was a soap star in the UK.
Melanie Griffith brought her starlet daughter Dakota Johnson to the party – Dakota has small roles in two movies coming out this year including “The Social Network” starring Justin Timberlake. Social networking is no doubt what she’s doing at this event.
Of Course, Cher was at the party – she’s been in the mood to go out lately. We’re not sure about the red eye shadow…
It’s been AGES since we’ve seen Rebecca De Mornay or Richard Chamberlain. We always envied Rebecca because she dated Leonard Cohen in the 90’s. She has a new Rob Reiner movie coming out called “Flipped.”
More faces we don’t see around a lot – Erik Estrada and Dyan Cannon, both looking happy to be there.

MELANIE GRIFFITH’S SON ALEXANDER DOESN’T LOOK LIKE HIS FATHER

Here’s an interesting photo of Melanie Griffith, her kids, and her mother Tippi Hedren at the airport. Melanie’s son Alexander (with ex-husband Steven Bauer) is 24, her daughter Dakota (with ex-husband Don Johnson) is 20, and her youngest, Stella, (with present husband Antonio Banderas) is 13. We think Alexander looks a LOT more like Don Johnson than he looks like his father Steven Bauer – do you see the resemblance?

UPDATE: The mystery is solved, thanks to our astute readers. The Don Johnson lookalike IS actually Don’s son with Patti D’Arbanville. He’s Jesse Johnson, an actor, and Dakota’s half brother. The photographer misidentified him.

Stella’s mom Melanie Griffith checked back into rehab recently and it was rumored that Antonio wanted to end the marriage. But Antonio made a point of denying any kind of split and insists emphatically “I’m not leaving!”
