When Haley Joel Osment’s name comes up, we always think of him as the sensitive kid in “The Sixth Sense.” Of course, he’s 26 and grown up now and currently filming Kevin Smith’s “Yoga Hosers” with Johnny Depp. Paparazzi caught him on the set in what appears to be a Nazi uniform. Can you imagine a Nazi with that little face and only 5’4” tall? He suffers from the child star curse of being very short.

Our observant gossip colleague CJ, the gossip reporter for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, took a close look at our recent photo of Robert Downey Jr and declared “Either he has issues with his feet OR he’s wearing elevator sneakers!” She is absolutely RIGHT – those white sneakers COULD be nurse’s shoes, but most likely the 5’8” actor is augmenting his height. At first Downey hesitated to play Iron Man because of his diminutive size, but inches were added inside his character’s boots. Maybe Robert got to like that extra boost and carried it into his private life…

Tom Cruise flashed a confident smile at paparazzi in London as he was leaving a place called Chiltern Firehouse. One naughty paparazzi noted that Tom looked a tad taller than usual and shot a close-up of Tom’s high heel boots. A very expensive men’s store in Beverly Hills provides Tom with height enhancing built-op footwear.

Snooki and her fiancé Jionni LaValle took their son Lorenzo, 1, to the New York zoo to look at some animals. For some reason the Jersey Shore couple looks really good, but extremely short in this photo. Snooki is 4’8” and Jionni is around 5’3” so they are a good match. But will Lorenzo be tiny too?

Sylvester Stallone is surrounded by women and his life couldn’t be better. Since he married former model Jennifer Flavin he dresses more appropriately and his two active daughters Sage and Sophia keep him on his toes. The only drawback is the fact that soon he will be the shortest person in the family.

Back in 2011, Will and Jada Smith announced their production company would be doing the remake of the Broadway show “Annie” with music by Jay-Z, and most important of all, starring their daughter Willow, who was VERY excited about playing the role. They had some trouble settling on a director and the project was postponed several times. Now the movie has come together and Sony hired someone named Will Gluck to direct,but Willow is OUT as Annie. The reason: she simply GREW too much! When Willow had the part she was only nine. Now 11, she’s grown into a very tall girl and can no longer play a child. Ironically, Lilla Crawford, who currently plays “Annie” on Broadway is also 11, but far more petite than Willow. Since she’s too big to play a child, Willow will have to audition for teen roles now. We had to laugh when we read about former model/actress Carole Mallory’s affairs with famous men in an excerpt from her new book “Picasso’s Ghost” on Page Six. Back in the seventies, party girl Carole was a hot number and slept with numerous celebrities. In 1975, she met Robert DeNiro at the Chateau Marmont and they had a 14 day affair. She was puzzled by the fact that he left his socks on in bed. WE can reveal WHY! In the seventies, everybody wanted to be taller and thinner and actors thought nothing of having their shoes – even running shoes – built up inside to add inches of height. DeNiro took it a step further- we heard that he had his SOCKS built up inside so he’d still be tall in the bedroom. No kidding. It looks like Carole finally validated that piece of ancient but juicy gossip.

We knew that Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster was taller than him, (6’1”) but this is ridiculous! She’s not even wearing platforms! This picture is not photoshopped, it’s just shot at an amazing angle and nattily dressed Rod looks diminutive. (He claims to be 5’11.”) The unlikely pair were on their way into 34 Restaurant in London. We wonder if Rod will see the humor in this.

Back in the day, Sylvester Stallone kept a close eye on the size of the men who appeared in movies with him. We remember once he was shooting in a soundstage some kind of fight scene with lots of extras involved when he suddenly cut the action. He looked around and and decided the other guys in the scene were too tall. Assistants had to run around the studio and quickly find short men to put on the costumes and appear in the scene. A diminutive painter was actually pulled off a ladder, costumed, and added to the action. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that Tom Cruise chose equally height challenged Jeremy Renner as his costar and his character Ethan’s “right hand man” in Mission: Impossible IV.
Okay, we just love stories about actors with lifts in their shoes. Tom Cruise wore his custom (and highly suspicious) black boots to the Super 8 premier, but he should watch out whom he stands next to. Elle Fanning appears taller than Tom and she’s only 13! Of course she’s wearing platforms, and we’re not certain just how many inches Tom adds with his boots, but if he’d kept a distance from Elle, this speculation wouldn’t have happened at all.
