Countless celebrities have taken to social media to memorialize Matthew Perry after his unexpected death at 54 on October 28. His 5 Friends costars, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have remained silent. According to my source the tight knit group is debating whether to issue a joint statement or individual ones. My source says that the group wants to schedule their statements so they are released at the same time. Alec Baldwin is counting on his celebrity friends to help him beat involuntary manslaughter charges! An insider says Alec is determined to prove he wasn’t responsible for the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie, Rust, and he plans on the help of his famous friends to prove his innocence. According to an insider, a plea deal was floated around before the formal charges were filed on Jan 31, but Alec is determined to FIGHT the case and he’s relying on many of his fellow actors to testify if the case goes to trial. The insider predicts that Alec’s trial will have more movie stars than the Academy Awards. Alec hopes having many big name actors testify about gun use on movie sets will sway the jury in his favor. Many of his A-list pals have already agreed to testify on his behalf if needed.

WHAT JENNIFER ANISTON IS NOT TALKING ABOUT

We happen to have a high opinion of Jennifer Aniston and think she’s one of the most decent, down to earth, and amiable women in Hollywood. Her interview in Allure covered a lot of her feelings about intrusive media, and her frustrating attempts to get pregnant. She DID leave out one important fact. Jen actually DID get pregnant (with husband Brad Pitt) before the 8th episode of Friends. Writers hastily wrote a pregnancy into the plot for Rachel (Ross was the “dad”) as Jennifer’s tummy grew. But months later, Rachel’s tummy disappeared for a Halloween show, and the tummy came and went for the next 12 months. What happened was, Jennifer had a heartbreaking MISCARRIAGE after just a few months and because of that, writers had continuity problems – frantically trying to patch together storylines. It was a VERY sad time for Jen, but she went on with the series for two more seasons. After that, she and Brad split up.

Matthew Perry, 53, hasn’t worked for at least the last five years, and every time we’ve seen photos of him they were far from flattering. He looked unshaven and sometimes unkempt in pajama-like clothing. It’s common knowledge that he’s been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, but maybe now he’s finally gotten a grip on it. It was just last summer that we saw those dreadful photos of Matthew Perry looking overweight, disheveled, and chain-smoking, wobblily visiting a medical building with his “sober coach.” (He has a history of addiction to methadone, vicoden, methamphetamines, and alcohol) He also had those whiskers that make many men look like transients. Magically, in December he announced that he was engaged to 29 year old literary manager Molly Hurwitz. He has also managed to pull himself together enough to film the Friends reunion and right now he’s filming Don’t Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. His fans are concerned about his appearance on the Friends reunion – if he’s smart he’ll shave off that stubble ASAP. But WHY is he selling his own collection of hoodys and t-shirts? The hoody he’s wearing in the photo above is $44.99, by the way…

Matthew Perry, 50, has been looking a little rough around the edges lately, but things might be improving. Perry is the one that his Friends costars worry about the most. He’s had substance abuse problems and health problems lately and hasn’t been looking his best. He recently split with a 29 year old girlfriend and seemed depressed about it. Or maybe he was depressed about social isolation. But this week he was seen in Malibu with a new woman – but we can’t tell if he’s happy because of the mask.

Friends HBO Max Reunion

FRIENDS REUNION: SO CLOSE AND YET SO FAR

Seems like the cast of Friends has been dropping hints about their upcoming reunion for YEARS now – they finally agreed to do it and be the big draw when HBO Max launches its streaming service in May. The reunion was scheduled to film on March 23 – 24 on the show’s original Warner Bros set, BUT coronavirus shut them down. Bad news for HBO Max’s debut, which will go on with Friends reruns instead. The reunion WILL be rescheduled and cast members definitely are up for it – they’re getting paid almost 3 million each for the special– remember, during the last season of Friends they each earned a historic million dollars an episode.
