Anne Hathaway has never looked plainer or more awkward than she does for her currently filming romantic comedy “One Day.” The story is: Anne’s character meets Jim Sturgess’s character at their graduation in 1988 and they reunite one day a year for the next twenty years. We can already imagine Anne’s character getting contacts and gradually blossoming into a beauty. It sounds like a fun movie.
This story has already been done, once for sure, maybe twice. I know there was one with Alan Alda where the lovers met every year. WHY can’t we get some FRESH STORIES from “Hollywood”? Man, this is getting OLD!!!
Anne Hathaway can’t get decent work?
some men like prostitutes this way……..
“One Day” is a great, great book. I have already read it twice. It’s a very good read. I hope the film version doesn’t destroy it.
Even Cheers had that plot line.
Reta’s right — the film is “Same Time Next Year” starring Alan Alda and the amazing Ellen Burstyn. Burstyn starred in the original Broadway play w/ Charles Grodin. It’s one of my favorite movies and as a play, is done in regional theatres all around the country. 🙂
Little wonder Anne can’t get decent films as she seems totally obsessed with nudity as if this was the key to success. By all accounts in Love and other Drugs she shows all she has to offer. What a waste of her talent, perhaps her Judy Garland film, will be the breakthrough to restore the respect she once enjoyed and deserved.
Hathaway seems a decent enough character – well, she is not the slut most of her Hollywood celeb peers seem to be – but that is no reason to embellish her resume.
Most of Hathaway’s work has been middling and insipid at best. Like the American auto industry, she is in desperate need of a really good vehicle.
Hathaway used to date that Italian crook. She was guilty of helping the scammer.
Hilary, I’ve seen that movie. LOVE Ellen Burstyn. This movie plot is completely different thanks to Janet’s vague blog. It’s based on the book written by David Nicholls.
Pippa-London, yes, we know Hathaway is not a vegetarian. She liked the peperoni.
She’s very talented and since Hollywood has run out of any real original ideas outside of HBO, at least it’s a worthy movie to remake unlike most of what they are coming up with now.
She’s very talented, versatile and works hard, is professional – the anti Lohan if you will, but she can only accept roles she’s offered and while she is probably A list she gets what she gets as far as roles offered.
Ordinarily I would agree that this sounds like a bad idea for a movie, but the source material happens to be pretty good – it’s based on the novel (also called “One Day”) by David Nicholls; and it will be directed by Lone Scherfig (known for “An Education”, mostly). Having read (and really enjoyed) the novel, I don’t like the choice of Anne Hathaway for this specific character, but the pictures we’ve been seeing have made me a little more hopeful that she might not ruin the film.
