RICHARD GRIECO SHOWS HIS “EMOTIONALISM” FOR JANET CHARLTON

Gallerie Sparta on the Sunset Strip was the place to be Thursday night. It was opening night for Richard Grieco’s collection of “abstract emotionalism” paintings and he drew quite an eclectic crowd. Johnny Mathis left before we got there and that was a HUGE disappointment. Mickey Rooney, of all people, was in a wheelchair but looked quite happy to be out and about. Mickey Rourke was expected but we never saw him – too bad. Presumably Richard (“If Looks Could Kill”) had consumed some cocktails or had sold a few expensive paintings before we chatted with him – hence the robust hugs. We asked if he was single and he said he had never been married but had dated among others, Madonna and Sharon Stone awhile back (who KNEW?) Right now he has a girlfriend but we never saw her.

RICHARD LEWIS: SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE

We’ve always enjoyed frantic comedian Richard Lewis – loved his series Anything But Love, and recently, his appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm. At 65, he’s still wearing all black and has hair to run his hands through. Years ago we were shopping in Bloomingdale’s women’s shoe department and, as usual, asked the clerk if any celebrities had been shopping lately. The salesman said “As a matter of fact, a weird thing happened this morning. Richard Lewis showed up as soon as we opened and he paced around the department fretting and talking to himself for quite awhile. We almost called security but eventually he disappeared.” Strange story – but later we learned Richard had a drinking problem and went to rehab so that explains it. We think. MELANIE GRIFFITH MADE A MOVIE IN SPAIN WITH ANTONIO BANDERAS

Melanie Griffith looks cute in several shades of grey as she arrives at the Jimmy Kimmel show. She still has that amazing body. Melanie costarred with her husband Antonio Banderas in a movie made in Spain called Automatica. It’s a sci-fi thriller about robot problems in the future, set to be released next year.

Forest Whitaker Oprah The Butler

“THE BUTLER” SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

Wild horses couldn’t keep us from seeing “The Butler.” Reviews are mixed, but we can’t imagine that we won’t find SOMETHING to love about this movie. Hopefully there will be plenty of personal observations and juicy behind-the-scenes details about the private lives of eight presidents and how they reacted to current events. The cast is amazing – we just hope the script lives up to expectations.

JUSTIN BIEBER WANTS YOU TO THINK HE’S A NICE GUY – JIMMY KIMMEL’S NOT BUYING IT

Someone in a car behind him snapped this picture of Justin Bieber handing some dollars out the window of his $400,000 Ferrari to a woman asking for money. Justin loved it so much he seized the opportunity to post it on Instagram with the words “Always give back.“ Jimmy Kimmel remarked “That’s a good message – maybe we can give HIM back to Canada.”

We’ve watched Mickey Rourke go through some changes through the years, but he’s come a LONG way since he first appeared as the sexy guy in “Diner” in 1982. Plastic surgery, bulking up in the gym, and a generally indulgent lifestyle have altered his looks considerably. Mickey’s problem was that he got cut-rate or free plastic surgery from a doctor friend a few years back, and went way too far. This recent photo of him is radically different than how he looked when he appeared in The Wrestler in 2008. His facial features are very different.

IT’S NICE TO BE JENNIFER ANISTON’S FRIEND

One of Jennifer Aniston’s favorite hang-outs in Hollywood is The Tower Bar – they even have a drink named after her. The maitre d’ there, Dmitri Dmitrov, always watches out for her – he gives Jen her favorite table and discreetly warns her if any of her ex-boyfriends are there. According to Merle Ginsberg in The Hollywood Reporter, Dmitri was thrilled when Jennifer arranged to have him appear in her currently filming Peter Bogdanovich movie “Squirrels to the Nuts” shooting in Manhattan. He‘s playing a New York maitre d’ in several scenes using his own name. Jennifer also made sure she shared the screen with him at least once. LUCILLE BALL AS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN HER

Did you recognize Lucille Ball in those go-go boots above? According to television historian Richard Metzger of Dangerous Minds.net, Lucille Ball did an hour long variety special, “Lucy in London” in 1966 in conjunction with her series “The Lucy Show.” “Lucy Carmichael” won a free trip to London in a dog food jingle contest and she took “Mr Mooney” (Gale Gordon) as her plus one. Monsanto sponsored the show. In this clip Anthony Newley took her shopping on Carnaby Street after she fell in the Thames. Watch for a cameo by Twiggy. Oh, and that’s The Dave Clark Five singing.
