PAULA DEEN, WE DON’T WANT YOU BACK!

paula1566_2431_Paula Deen

The more we hear about Paula Deen’s comeback, the LESS we want her to come back. Her admitted use of the “n” word caused her business world to collapse for awhile, but was the least of her crimes. Chef Anthony Bourdain called her “The most dangerous person in America.“ He went on to point out that “she revels in unholy connections with evil corporations and is PROUD of the fact that her food is BAD for you.” We happen to think a REAL chef would not promote fatty, sugar-heavy foods, knowing first hand what it does to one’s health. Paula knows first hand because she ate herself into a case of diabetes and hid it from the public. When her disease was revealed she partnered up with a drug company selling diabetes drugs. Paula hides her crimes behind that sweet southern drawl, but don’t let it fool you!

  1. Come on, Janet, most of what Paula cooks is what middle America eats on a regular basis. Paula had an empire based on her cooking.

  2. Are you serious??? Will you be going after Betty Crocker for those evil recipes next? How about every single rapper on planet earth that uses the N word quite regularly. Not to mention all the degrading female lyrics and images. Reverse discrimination is alive and well on JC and in America.

  3. It’s not her fault people eat too much food that’s bad for them.
Everyone has a choice in eating stuff that’s healthy or unhealthy.

Just as you refuse to delete all the racist & bigoted comments on this blog!

  4. Ditto. Its american food. She did not invent it. As far as money hungry deals with the “devil”, really? Isn’t that the American way?

  5. Janet, I love to to death but not all of America eats like Calle Vista Drive: half a carrot and a cup of sparkling water for dinner. Good old ‘Mercian food has sugar, has butter and the best apple pie uses lard in the crust.

  6. “but was the least of her crimes”

Some people are just ignorant to no end!

  7. It’s not just the food PP, it’s all the computer office jobs involving sitting all day long

  8. What a foolish article. Sounds like the PC nation is behind this or the Pied Piper and his blueberries!

  9. I find your comments incredibly small-minded. Paula Deen is a lady who made it big cooking like her mother and grandmother before her. Her recipes resonate with the public, just not the Hollywood elites I suppose. Are you going to judge all of the other “successful” people in this country who partner with big business as evil doers? I like your column, but I now am rethinking visiting your website.

  10. seriously, no one is forcing you to eat traditional southern american food.
and these recipes can be adjusted/moderated for those with health concerns.

Paula Deen was asked under oath if she has ever used a derogatory racial slur and she answered truthfully, “yes”.

that was a lawyers trick to demonize her and win that lawsuit.

Most white people are racist who actively discriminate against Black and Hispanic (Mexican) people.

I am not the one to “tolerate” white racists but the difference between Paula Deen and everyone else is that she answered HONESTLY, has apologized and is attempting to to make amends.

YES! I would watch her show.
YES! I would give her a second chance.

  11. How many N words do ghetto BLACKS utter each week?

As Herman Cain told the BLACKS, Stop looking for handouts and go to work!

  12. Gosh, blacks call us cracker, whore, bitch and all kinds of things….how fair is that?

  13. As Herman Cain told the BLACKS, Stop looking for handouts and go to work!

  14. Everyone eats unhealthy food occasionally. Not a big deal. But I do find it distasteful (pardon the pun) that she hid her diabetes and then “came out” once she had a drug company to hawk products for.

  15. “Most white people are racists”. Are you freaking serious??? I take offense to that. People like YOU are the problem.

  16. Janet – do NOT speak for me. I don’t mind reading the ‘gossip’ on your site, but when you start treating your OPINION as TRUTH, then I have a problem. You need to shut up and go eat a salad.

  17. I’m with Becca on the bigoted, racist comments that don’t get filtered out.

  18. I hate getting in the middle of contentious threads, but I have to say a couple of things In Janets favor, since she is getting hammered here.

Firstly, yes, previous generations ate lots of fat, had huge helpings, and could have lots of lovely desserts like pies and cakes, and they didn’t have record numbers of obesity and diabetes, and other auto-immune diseases. However, that does not hold true today! We are not eating the same farm fresh, naturally produced food that they had back then. Their meat wasn’t full of hormones that cause them to plump up, the flour was from the old fashioned wheat that grew tall and “waved” in the breeze, not the short, stiff hybrid stuff, full of chemcials, fgs, that they grow now. The vegetables and fruit weren’t genetically modified–which Europe and a LOT of other countries will not allow.

Secondly, people were far more active back then, they had to be. Kids were always outside when they weren’t at school, they weren’t sitting on their butts playing video games or watching 24 hour channels devoted to keeping them on the couch.

There are other factors I could go into, but these two alone should be enough proof for anyone that the old fashioned diets that our grandparents and their ancestors enjoyed will not fly in this day and age. Even if you buy organic, non GMO food, of which you cannot be sure what you are getting. So yes, I believe Deen’s show and her pushing her fried food/sugar heavy diet was irresponsible. When she knew she had diabetes and kept doing it until she snagged a lucrative drug ad contract, then it became downright hypocritical.

As far as her personality goes, a lot of people that knew her and had worked for her organization came out in different articles, interviews, blogs and whatnot and said she was a horrible person to work for, that she was mean, diva-ish, greedy and fake. And fake is the important word here. All reality shows are F A K E. Everything about them. And their “stars” are the most obnoxious celebrities around, by far the most diva-ish, entitled, and rude.

Lastly, I don’t think our country needs any more cheap, sweat-shop crap from China & Thailand, which is where her products are manufactured (I looked it up). I think it would do this country a world of good to cut the excess out of lives, less stuff, less food, but have it be genuine. Let’s focus on quality and not quantity. Eat less but more healthy food, watch less tv, spend more time doing worthwhile things, etc. Paula Deen is the queen of excessive & unhealthy lifestyles. She has made a fortune out of conning people into eating food they should only eat sparingly, and buying a lot of crap they don’t need, and is probably full of dangerous chemicals.

Is this really the type of person we want to throw our support behind?

  19. Famous quotes from Julia Child:

“If you’re afraid of butter, use cream.”
    “Fat gives things flavor.”
    “Everything in moderation… including moderation.”
“The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook.”
“A party without cake is just a meeting”
“People who love to eat are always the best people.”

  20. Deen plays to the lowest common denominator.
    Like Strom.
But unlike Strom whose weapon is fear and ignorance, Deen’s weapon is the insecurity and sadness that is a major factor with the overweight and lonely. She definately does NOT play the moderation card.
She is dangerous, as Bourdain said.

  21. Patrick, amazing comment! You nailed it. The people I know who are obese are sad, lonely and terribly insecure.

  22. Patrick, my guitar playing kid got himself a les paul custom shop (57) black beauty. Hope you’re still enjoying your guitars!

  23. The Pied Piper is good at casting dispersions at successful people. Which figures. Who cares what Paula does but she seems to have quite a following so more power too her.

The people who play too and play on the lowest common denominator are the Obama’s.

Their motto is keep the BLACKS dumb and dependent and they will vote for us. Worked for Jesse Jackson, worked for Barack.

  24. My adult daughter has been a diabetic for 27yrs and I feel Paula Deen was deceiving her fans by promoting unhealthy foods while she had diabetes just to continue making money. Then once it came out that she had diabetes she jumped at the opportunity to promote diabetes drugs. All for money. I feel its wrong. As for using the n-word, everything always catches up with us in life. Think before you speak.

  25. People should not be gullible enough to allow anyone promoting food dishes to tempt them into something unhealthy for their situation. They should also not blame others for their own problems.

Obama wants those with problems to blame the successful. He does not want them to believe in being self sufficient.

  26. She is a big fake like all the rest of them. She doesn’t want to loose her money & fame!!

  27. Double ditto Stom’s comments except for the political portion. No one is forcing the public to eat the food she cooks. Like Duh!

  28. Amy, no one said she is “forcing” people to eat bad food. Although when you consider that she is teaching people to cook, tasting her own cooking and practically having orgasms over it, then I would say she is urging them to eat unhealthy. I’m not a fan so I don’t know if she has changed her dishes since the diabetes or not.

Re: your earlier comment about Julia Childs and fat, it is healthy when you consume healthy fats and in moderation. I use butter, olive oil, grapeseed oil, walnut oil and a few others, every day. The body needs fat to make hormones. What is not healthy is butter with bovine growth hormone, canola oil, safflower oil and other cheap brands. But a little butter in your pasta dish or on Sunday pancakes, sure. Paula Deens deep friend butter balls, gag.

  29. OH Noblecascadee don’t forget WHITE GARBAGE

  30. So important it bears repeating:

The Pied Piper is good at casting aspersions at successful people.

  31. Have a 1/3 cup of Blueberries with your rolled oats and think you have done good for the planet and mankind!

  32. Hi Strom. How do I go about getting one of your published works with an autograph?

  33. Maybe only in California are the obese are sad, lonely, and insecure.

  34. It’s not about posters. Occupy yourself by reading Tolstoy and Hemingway instead.

  35. How did you know? Flipping through the classics while waiting for your next thought provoking post on JCH is my passion. What an inspiration you are to all.
Why do you make this site all about you?

  36. Amazing that the word crime would be used, when nothing illegal occurred. Deen’s words were her own and much milder than said by celebrity BLACKS. No one is made to eat her food or buy her cookbooks.

Jen the chin Anniston sells overpriced tap water and is called a genius.

    It’s not about posters!

  37. Can I have your autograph, genius?
Please though, don’t use BLACK ink.
    That would be enabling.

  38. It’s not about posters, even for the Pied Piper…it is about the thread.

As is usual, many of the complaints about here are from competitors. The tofu and blueberry crowd somehow see Paula as beneath their status.

  39. Amazing that the word crime would be used, when nothing illegal occurred. Deen’s words were her own and much milder than said by celebrity BLACKS. No one is made to eat her food or buy her cookbooks.

  40. I think this little article was so stupid and desperate for attention.

There’s a lot of villains out there far worse than Paula and many of them are on TV and in movies today earning big bucks.
