Kirk will use the usual “because the bible says so” excuse and hide behind that sort of thing. He has no proof and is downright nuts with his fanatical religious beliefs.

Although the idea of an all supreme being in command of the universe whom incidentally looks like a white human man and talked to a human at one time via a burning bush does sound hard to disprove.

As long as they are not hurting each, who cares. Cameron really never had a choice in his religious beliefs. His parents chose them for him. Hawking on the other hand, and to my knowledge, chose to believe his theories about the universe. Each to his own, I guess. Unless you are hurting others, of course.

Janet, thank for posting this. I agree with you 100%! Since I left the US in 2004, I’m shocked to realise how unique US is in its divisiveness around religion. Stephen Hawking is such an amazing genius, it would be Kirk acting the part of the blind man being bullied.
This country was founded, in part, to worship as we choose. Why it is so “in vouge” to trash people who choose to practice a faith is beyond me. Janet, it makes you look small to trash everyone who is religious simply because you don’t like Kirk’s recent comments.
Stephen Hawking has been blessed with a fabulous mind, but in an unhealthy body. Despite his physical failings, I doubt he is capable of being bullied.

Scientists have determined that the so-called “seeing the light” etc phenonenon that people describe when they temporarily lose vital signs is really the brains shutting down to the loss of oxygen. I was taught in nursing school never to speak about a person who has just died in FRONT OF THE “BODY” because the hearing is the last to go and because the brain leterally takes at least 5 minutes to stop fuctioning, a person can HEAR YOU speaking about them even tho their heart has stopped and there are no vital signs. So never stand above a patient and say “He’s DEAD” because he can probably hear you.
I go with the scientists in that the brain is an awesome instrument and does very intriguing things when the neurons are dying.

The brain is a pretty complicated piece of equipment to be designed by “accident”. If life is just some big accident why are living things so complicated? Why aren’t we all just simple bacteria? It seems the more complicated organisms are the more likely it would be that is was somehow “designed” by some force bigger than ourselves. No one can really explain the trigger that is evolution or how it all began so I’m keeping an open mind. Mr. Hawkings is a brilliant man but why are we accepting everything he says as Gospel? Even Einstein made mistakes.
Polly, I’m not accepting ANYBODY’s views as gospel. Let alone a book written by MEN way past the time when Jesus walked the earth. “GOD” didn’t “write” the bible, humen men did, and in fact a woman wrote one of the “books” of the bible which was removed from it by the Catholic church.
There are many many parts of the bible and stories in it which are in other books which came before it, including the Koran. Verbal stories passed down for generations in several parts of the world echo some of those stories, so how can this one book say it is the “word of “God”.
Look at the area where Jesus came from. He was NOT a white man as depicted now for centuries in paintings and assumed by most Christians as what Jesus looked like. How many MILLIONS of years have people been on this planet, yet Christians believe and follow a book written by MEN around two thousand years ago. THINK of how NEW that book is in the scheme of things. People can write anything they want, and they DID, nad who was to stop then. Other people came along andchanged it, edited it, and removed parts of it. It is in NO WAY the original work it WAS, and your JESUS did not WRITE it, he was DEAD. Those men could say anything they wanted and claim it was the word of Jesus or God, but that doesn’t make it so.
I think you people who blindly believe this stuff have given up your brains from free thinking, and most likely were brain-washed from birth or childhood.
Look at the peopl who are terrorists, they are brought up to believe that stuff and that giving their life for that cause is the ultimate glory. They are blind to any other thoughts or beliefs, and are just hopelessly brainwashed.
