UMA THURMAN: JUST HAPPY TO BE WORKING

Looking peaceful, Uma Thurman is relaxing for a moment between shots in New York’s Central Park where she’s filming her new series for Apple TV called Suspicion. Uma plays a successful Manhattan businesswoman whose 21 year old son is abducted from an upscale New York hotel and the action is captured on video – which goes viral. Four British citizens staying at the hotel become prime suspects, but they might not be as guilty as they appear. If this series is half as good as Nicole Kidman’s The Undoing- we’re IN! Uma and Nicole are about the same age and it’s nice to see them working steadily.

UMA THURMAN IS OUT TO SCARE YOU

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Uma Thurman onscreen and she’s looking particularly good while promoting her new Netflix series Chambers. (premiers April 26) It’s described as a psychological horror series about a teenage girl who has a heart transplant. The well-intentioned and well-to-do parents (Uma and Tony Goldwyn) of the heart donor become involved with the Apache Indian girl who received their daughter’s heart. And, of course, the Indian girl starts taking on some creepy characteristics of her heart donor. Reviewers praise Uma’s performance more than they do the supernatural story, but it’s worth a look…

Arpad Busson Models Mother Nena von Schlebrugge Uma Thurman

Who knew Uma Thurman had such a glamorous mother? Uma’s mother was a Swedish model, Nena von Schlebrugge, who was discovered at the age of 15 in Stockholm and flown to New York in the 50’s. (Nena’s mother had been a model as well.) She was a huge success as a cover girl and married – of all people- LSD guru Timothy Leary in 1965. She came to her senses after a year and married Uma’s father Robert Thurman, a professor of Tibetan Buddhism. Their daughter Uma started her career as a fashion model at 15 also – that’s THREE generations of models! Uma is currently pregnant with her third child – fathered by London based financier Arpad Busson.

Chelsea Handler might be advised not to put 50 Cent in her rear view mirror too hastily. The two were linked until Chelsea showed up at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah with Uma Thurman’s exboyfriend Andre Balazs. Chelsea reportedly had her paws all over Andre, who owns seven hip hotels in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. And he has at least one girl in every port. The highly desirable Balazs (masters degree from Columbia Univ, among other things) enjoys attention from many women and makes it clear he has not intention of settling down with one. Chelsea’s not used to being just one of the pack.

BREAKING UP WITH UMA THURMAN IS HARD TO DO

Uma Thurman’s exboyfriends find it a real challenge to stay away from her. She was photographed being nuzzled in the park by her most recent ex , international playboy Arpad Busson. Arpad reportedly lost hundreds of millions of dollars he had invested with Bernie Madoff. But he survived and he and Uma were engaged when they split up a few months ago. Apparently, the split was a failure. Uma had the same kind of off-gain, on-again romance with hotelier Andre Balazs for several years.

Uma Thurman says her role in MY Super Ex-Girlfriend isn’t that different from her real life. She admits to being a “neurotic New Yorker” like her movie character but there’s more to it than that! Uma can’t seem to break up with her ex-boyfriend Andre Balazs. Last March she announced her romance with the handsome hotelier (the Mercer Hotel Chateau Marmont etc) was OVER. Friends weren’t surprised – “Andre isn’t the faithful type and he had all kinds of opportunities to cheat. He’s not the marrying kind.” Yet Uma continued to take vacations with Andre and quietly date him. Why? Uma admitted it’s hard for a famous woman to get a date at all. What’s more, a friend of the couple says “Andre is very seductive, he’s super smart, gorgeous, successful, and knows everybody in New York. Where is she going to do better?” So apparently, Uma is settling for a very hot guy unsuitable for marriage. Most neurotic New York girls WOULD!
