OPRAH HAS HER EYE ON BERNARD MADOFF’S POSSESSIONS

Bernard Madoff’s ill gotten assets are being sorted out and sold, starting with the large items like houses and boats. Afterward, the contents of the houses will be put on the auction block and all that includes plenty of art and exquisite collectibles. Oprah is drooling over Madoff’s huge collection of first edition books. Her library of 1500 books is already impressive, but Oprah wants to increase her special collection of rare first editions and plans to keep close tabs on the auction.

Speaking of Ethan Hawke’s exwife Uma Thurman, here she is leaving her townhouse with her wealthy fiancee, French financier Arpad Busson. They don’t look particularly happy – we wonder if the fact that he lost 220 million dollars in Bernard Madoff’s Ponzi scheme, has affected their relationship. Do you suppose the old saying: “You can’t cheat an honest man” applies here?

SOMEBODY PLEASE STUFF A SOCK IN BERNIE MADOFF'S MOUTH

Joe Queenan brilliantly summed up the absurdity of Ponzi scammer Bernard Madoff’s courtroom “apology” in the LA Times. Madoff admitted he had “deeply hurt many, many, people” and said “I cannot adequately express how sorry I am for what I have done.” The writer pointed out that Madoff couldn’t be THAT sorry because genuine contrition requires RESTITUTION. Madoff made NO effort to help the government locate any of the 60 billion dollars he allegedly stole, and REFUSES to identify his confederates. His vapid apology translates to: “I regret the distress I’ve caused, but I’m keeping the money. And leave my wife out of this.”
Let’s face it, most public apologies like his are just another insult to his victims.
