MILLA JOVOVICH AND EDWARD NORTON PLAY A LOWLIFE COUPLE IN “STONE”

Milla Jovovich and Edward Norton are promoting their new movie “Stone” with Robert DeNiro and fans of any or all the three leading characters will want to see this movie. All their performances are over the top and they make a dreary story with evangelical overtones palatable. Milla (“The Fifth Element”) is a revelation as a trailer park seductress and Edward Norton plays a sneaky prisoner with dreads and ghetto-talk who reminds one of Eminem. Robert DeNiro’s parole officer character is tightly wound, but a crashing bore who watches golf on TV while his wife drinks and prays. It’s not an uplifting movie to watch but the acting makes it all worth it.

SACHA BARON COHEN WILL ROCK YOU AS FREDDIE MERCURY

Hollywood has been trying for years to get a movie about Queen singer Freddie Mercury made and the last we heard, Johnny Depp was front-runner for the role. Johnny would have been great, but we’re delighted to hear that Sacha Baron Cohen has landed the role! Actually Cohen bears the closest resemblance to Mercury, who was of Indian descent, and born in Zanzibar. And Sacha looks good in spandex, too. Robert DeNiro is one of the producers finally getting this show on the road. The script covers the band’s early formative years up to the magnificent Queen performance for Live Aid in 1985. Freddie died tragically of AIDS in 1991 but his health decline won’t be part of the film – it will end on a high note. Paramount got the rights to the best Queen songs so this will also be a feast for the ears.

Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller seem quite amused by whatever’s transpiring on the “Little Fockers” set where they’re currently filming. The plot to this “Meet the Fockers” sequel revolves around the Fockers’ offspring. Jessica Alba is playing a beautiful girl who causes havoc for the males in the movie. It’s still uncertain whether Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand will reprise their roles, but we bet they will.

ROBERT DE NIRO; GODFATHER OR FOCKER?

Suddenly Robert De Niro, in his engineer’s cap and reading glasses, looks a lot older than he did the last time we saw him. Here he’s having an early breakfast in New York. He’s in the process of filming another comedy, “Little Fockers,” with Ben Stiller, so maybe he’s in character for that. Anyway, you can always recognize him by his distinctive moles.

This New York businessman is actually one of the most famous actors in the world. Stumped? It’s Robert DeNiro! The actor was photographed meeting with business partners to check out a property in the West Village. He’s deeply involved in the restaurant and hotel business these days, but his mafioso roles are not over. He and Martin Scorsese are teaming up again for “I Heard You Paint Houses” – about the mob assassin who bumped off Jimmy >Hoffa.

Robert De Niro also showed up at the Atlantic magazine party. He’s in the middle of filming Heat – an action filled cops and robbers movie – with Al Pacino. We’re curious about why his arm is in a sling – injured shoulder? We’re betting the photographer was afraid to ask.

NO RED CARPET TREATMENT FOR ROBERT DENIRO

robertcut-de-niro-picture-1.jpg
Even an A-list celebrity like Robert DeNiro can’t go EVERYWHERE. He was denied access to visit his friend Tom Sizemore (serving time for drug charges) at the LA County Jail. Two weeks ago Bob stood in two long visitor lines at the high profile section of the jail and at the end of the second line he expected to get a pass. Instead he was told that Tom couldn’t have visitors – he got into a fight with another inmate and was in lockdown until September 1. Exasperated, Bob did his best DeNiro imitation and asked “Can’t you make an exception?” The guard couldn’t.
