Patrick Schwarzenegger held hands with his mother Maria Shriver and made her laugh at the Lakers game this week, while his blonde date looked mildly annoyed. “Spider Man” Andrew Garfield was seated in the row right in front of them and he didn’t look at all happy about the progress of the game.

Let’s clear something up right now. When it comes to Arnold cheating, Maria KNEW. Arnold was cheating on Maria long before they got married and she had plenty of time to change her mind. He really appreciated women and made passes in the gym and on movie sets. And plenty of girls responded favorably to attention from Mr Olympia or Arnold the Movie Star. Arnold didn’t lie or make promises – he just liked sex. The tabloids detailed his many flings, including the one with Brigitte Nielsen. We clearly recall Arnold making a movie in Mexico and stories came back about him having wild affair with an actress in the movie. It was well documented and months BEFORE he married Maria. Of course, Arnold’s boorish womanizing is not excusable, but it was common knowledge at the time, and Maria chose to marry him ANYWAY. Why did she do it?
Maria Shriver has no intention of being a single woman in Los Angeles. She’s planning to move to Manhattan in the spring, although she will keep a home on the west coast for frequent visits. Maria has lots of family and job opportunities on the east coast. Her three oldest children are settled into working or going to school here in LA so they will stay, but her youngest son Christopher can choose where he wants to live.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been quietly spoiling his estranged wife Maria in hopes of improving the divorce situation. He spends a lot of time shopping at Neiman Marcus and has expensive gifts- mostly designer accessories – delivered to her. Among the surprises was a diamond Cartier watch. (Hmmm…wonder if this dog is in training to become Arnold’s new bodyguard.)
Since Maria Shriver filed for divorce, publishers are falling over themselves to sign her up to write a book about her life. Maria has already written six bestselling inspirational books – mostly aimed at children, so another book is inevitable. It’s estimated that publishing offers will exceed fifteen million dollars because her failed marriage is so fascinating. Even though the public is dying to hear her side of the story, and Maria is certainly angry with her estranged husband Arnold Schwarzenegger, she has four good reasons NOT to vent: Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher, her children. She just wants the drama and the divorce to be OVER as quietly as possible so she can proceed with her life.
The floodgates have opened and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “girlfriends” will probably be scrambling to sell their stories – similar to the Tiger Woods scandal. Quiet girls will decide to talk now because there is no marriage to break up – it‘s already ruptured, and they might as well pick up a few bucks while they can. One thing is certain – Arnold made a public confession about his love-child with an employee because some news agency was about to reveal the story and he had to beat them to it. His admission of guilt and humiliation was a welcome change from the usual irate denials. Sadly, Maria was all too familiar with Arnold’s cheating BEFORE she married him, but felt she could change him. The whole situation certainly explains Arnold’s sudden lack of interest in politics and his desire to go back to movie making.

The announced separation of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver after 25 years of marriage came as a shock to everyone. They seemed like such an enduring couple. The fact that Maria left their home and moved into a hotel makes it apparent that SHE is the unhappy one desiring separation. Living with Arnold must be a challenge – he is supremely self-confident and can’t understand anyone else who isn’t. But he has plenty of good qualities – a sense of humor, business smarts, and he’s a happy immigrant who loves this country and credits it for his success. Arnold and Maria symbolized the possibility of two political opposites compromising. Yet, we sense the rupture had nothing to do with politics. Seventeen year old Patrick Schwarzenegger has inherited his mother Maria Shriver’s social conscience as well as his father’s love of business and free enterprise. Details magazine interviewed the high school student who cofounded a clothing line called Project 360 two years ago. It’s a growing collection of t-shirts, bracelets and hoodies and 10% of the profits go to charity. Patrick recently signed with L.A. Models “to inject capital into his business.” And he enrolled in a five day a week course at Santa Monica College (where dad Arnold studied English) called “Principles of Entrepreneurship.” All this and he hasn’t even started college yet.
It’s funny how Maria Shriver and Caroline Kennedy combined their impressive political power to pressure the History channel into canceling the 25 million dollar miniseries about the Kennedy family. The eight hour miniseries covering 40 years, “The Kennedys,” will be seen in Canada and all over the world- just not the United States (until another network chooses to ignore the political pressure and pick it up.) What irks Maria and Caroline is the fact that the writer and producer Joel Surnow, happens to be a Republican and an admirer of Ronald Reagan. And the cousins didn’t like the fact that although the story was factual, it was necessary to create dialog to move the story along. The show’s stars Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear support the project as a “very positive representation of the Kennedys” and are very disappointed.

Here’s proof that photos CAN be very deceiving. California’s First LadyMaria Shriver was photographed at a Lakers game where she was basically having a good time and laughing a lot. The picture on the left caught her in an awkward moment and that, combined with the lighting, makes her look like an entirely different person from the attractive woman she really is on the right.
