Carrie Fisher

WHO DIDN’T LOVE DEBBIE REYNOLDS?

Is this the week of heartbreak or what? We’re still miserable from the loss of Carrie Fisher yesterday and apparently her mother Debbie Reynolds was so distraught that she suffered a stroke. At her son Todd Fisher’s house, while making funeral plans for her daughter Carrie! Back in the 90’s, we were lucky to have spent a weekend with Debbie Reynolds at her doomed Hotel in Las Vegas. Debbie and her best friend Charles Nelson Reilly were desperately trying to save the hotel from bankruptcy. She invited press people for a free weekend to see the Hollywood Memorabilia Museum she had installed there. She and Charles entertained and wined and dined us nonstop throughout the weekend. We DID love the museum and wrote about it. But nothing could save the mismanaged, dated hotel. Debbie had a lot of disasters in her life- financial and otherwise- but she remained an enthusiastic and positive sweetheart. We will never forget her.

CARRIE FISHER SAW THE HUMOR IN EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO HER

We all saw it coming but we didn’t want it to be true. Carrie Fisher suffered that massive heart attack on a plane as she was coming home for Christmas. She was described as “unresponsive” when she was removed from the plane. What exactly does that mean? Unconscious, or no signs of life? After she was whisked to the hospital we were told that she was “stable.” Days later George Michael suddenly died and attention turned to him. Now Carrie is gone and we fondly remember laughing uproariously at her stage show “Wishful Drinking.” Carrie had plenty of problems in life and dealt with them all with her brilliant sense of humor. Not many children of famous parents achieve their own success like Carrie did. She was one of a kind. Hopefully her dog Gary was right beside her at the end.

CARRIE FISHER HAS SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER HER

Carrie Fisher arrived at the airport with her ever-present BFF – her French Bulldog Gary. Gary gained fame during the press tour for Carrie’s movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens – he appeared with Carrie in every city. He’s so devoted to Carrie he never takes his eyes off her and doesn’t even need a leash. He’s officially a service dog who helps Carrie deal with her bipolar disorder by giving her stability and comfort. He’s also entertaining!

BILLIE LOURD IS STARTING AT THE TOP

Carrie Fisher and her daughter Billie Lourd had a great time at the spectacular Star Wars: The Force Awakens premier in Hollywood. They are both in the movie but their characters are not related. Billie, 23, is still in shock because this is her FIRST acting role. Since filming the movie she landed a role on the Fox series Scream Queens with Jamie Lee Curtis. Billie is the granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher so she might have some inherent talent. Anyway, she’s no dummy – she started her career RIGHT by graduating from NYU before she started acting.

SLIMMER CARRIE FISHER SAYS HER DOG LOVED “THE FORCE AWAKENS”

The outspoken Carrie Fisher is one of our longtime favorites – she’s incredibly smart and funny and occasionally plagued by psychological problems. She’s promoting The Force Awakens and likes to joke about how she was asked to lose 35 pounds before filming started. “They didn’t want ALL of me” she says “they only wanted 3/4 of me. They might as well have told me to GET YOUNGER!” Carrie went on to say that her French Bulldog Gary (above at the airport) was so smitten with the movie that his tongue has been hanging out ever since he saw it.

PRINCESS LEIA AND LUKE SKYWALKER : 37 YEARS LATER

Whoa! It HAS been a long time since the first Star Wars movie! Seeing Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill together recently reminded us that the first film of the franchise was released in 1977. Carrie and Mark just finished filming Star Wars VII and we assume that’s why Mark has that Jedi-style beard. It looks like Mark has changed the most since the first movie. Harrison Ford will be totally recognizable as a mature Han Solo in the episode coming out in 2015. Will Carrie’s Princess Leia still have her donut hairstyle? She’s not telling. STAR WARS: CARRIE FISHER INTENDS TO DO IT BETTER THIS TIME AROUND

To be honest, we’d have zero interest in seeing the new Star Wars movie if we didn’t know Carrie Fisher was reprising her Princess Leia role thirty seven years later. Don’t bother asking her about the plot – she’s sworn to secrecy. But she’s full of jokes – she said “I begged them to put my buns hairstyle back in grey like Granny Leia.” Carrie says that this time she wants to get her character’s accent right – less British. “I looked pretentious faking the accent – it came and went.” According to her mother Debbie Reynolds, Carrie was inspired to lose a lot of weight for her return as Leia so she’ll look good in those costumes.

JOE MANGANIELLO’S FIRST CELEBRITY CRUSH

True Blood stud Joe Mangeniello was asked by Elle magazine who his first celebrity crush was, and he answered this:

“Princess Leia from Star Wars. I actually met Carrie Fisher a couple of years ago. When I told her that she was my first crush, she insisted that we get married and have a reality show about it. I’m lucky to have made it out of that weekend without getting married.”

We LOVE this and can just IMAGINE Carrie’s excitement and reaction!

GAY ICON CARRIE FISHER GAVE THE BOYS SOMETHING TO GOSSIP ABOUT

Carrie Fisher is the talk of West Hollywood. Last weekend she was booked to do two “Evenings with Carrie Fisher” on the RSVP gay cruise to the Caribbean. (Hers is one of the best one woman shows we have ever seen – she’s brilliant!) When the ship stopped for beach time in Aruba, Carrie would board the ship, do her shows, and get off at the next stop. The boys on the beach were surprised to see Carrie swimming with her clothes on (a muu muu) and talking on and on, rather loudly, to herself. That night she arrived onstage a hot mess- late, disheveled, and carrying her small dog. Keep in mind Carrie has openly discussed her bipolar condition and substance abuse in the past. Maybe she skipped her meds that day because she made NO sense onstage. While she rambled incoherently, her dog peed on the floor (she mopped up with table napkins) and a few minutes later he pooped on the stage. The audience started to buzz but she was oblivious and a staffer covered the mess with a tablecloth. Since Carrie was babbling and everyone was embarrassed, audience members started to get up and leave and she tried to grab them and stop them. The show was abruptly cancelled and her second show was also. The next day she seemed perfectly happy as she left the ship, waving goodbye to all as if nothing happened.

CARRIE FISHER ON JOHN TRAVOLTA: “HE’S GAY AND WE DON’T CARE.”

Carrie Fisher may have opened herself up to a lawsuit from John Travolta – and it’s a shame because she really likes him. Carrie, who is hilariously honest about the people in her own family, didn’t hesitate to talk to The Advocate when they brought up the subject of Travolta filing a lawsuit against a website who called him gay. She said “Everyone knows John is gay and we don’t really care. I’m sorry he’s uncomfortable with it – it only draws more attention when you make a legal fuss.“ Travolta IS litigious when it comes to his sexual preference – so Carrie beware!
