BANKSY IS SHARING HIS ART WITH EVERYONE IN NEW YORK CITY

Our favorite guerilla artist Banksy has arrived in New York City and launched the start of a large street show. He seems to be doing one painting a day and New Yorkers are taking delight in finding them. His first one of two mischievous boys on a wall in Chinatown was already painted over! The second was the ACCENT wall and the latest is the dog peeing on a fire hydrant. There is a phone number stenciled next to each painting and callers can hear all about the piece. Banksy did this in LA in 2011, and it culminated with a huge party. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have spent millions on Banksy’s art and even commissioned a mural.

Art Banksy Exit Through The Gift Shop Oscars

IS OSCAR NOMINATED ARTIST BANKSY SENDING US A MESSAGE?

We love guerilla artist Banksy’s humor and his art, so we were delighted when the documentary he directed and stars in, “Exit Through The Gift Shop” was nominated for an Oscar. (Watch the trailer above) Following the news, this large piece of street art appeared in Los Angeles. It features Banksy as a gold Oscar, surrounded by Star Wars storm troopers and has a red carpet leading out to the sidewalk. Hmmm. Who could be responsible for this….

Art Banksy Brad Pitt Bristol Museum

IF BRAD IS MISSING, ANGELINA MIGHT FIND HIM AT THE BRISTOL MUSEUM

Our favorite subversive graffiti artist Banksy suddenly unveiled a show of over a hundred pieces secretly installed at the Bristol Museum in the UK. It’s his largest show ever, and most of the creations were never shown before in his country. (Brad Pitt is among his celebrity collectors.) There are lines around the block to see his humerous and inventive show – one memorable work is a photo of tragic starving African children and one is wearing a t-shirt that says “I Hate Mondays.” Also featured is a thought provoking sculpture that looks like a living breathing Cheetah but the other side reveals it has been made into a fur coat. People walk out of the show laughing and raving about it. Wish we were there.

PERHAPS A RARE PHOTO OF BANKSY

This photo is significant because it MIGHT be a picture of the subversive underground graffiti artist known as Banksy. His identity is a secret and nobody knows what he looks like – his satirical art suddenly appears in unexpected places or on brick walls. He has an installation in New York right now called “Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill.” One piece features a mother hen watching over her baby chicken Mcnuggets as they peck at a BBQ sauce packet. Two hooded men were spotted putting up this huge framed painting held by two hands on the side of an East Village building. By the way, his art sells for millions.

BANKSY DOES NEW YORK

Readers in the New York area who love modern art should not miss the Banksy opening at the Vanina Holasek Gallery on W 27th Street, on December 2. Remember, Banksy is the guerrilla artist from the UK who secretly altered 500 of Paris Hilton’s CD’s when they were released and his version was sold in Virgin and other stores. He replaced her CD with his own remixes with titles like “Why Am I Famous?” and he changed her photos – in one she has a dog’s head. His subversive stunt was very successful – not one person who bought the revised Paris CD tried to return it! Can you IMAGINE what they’re worth now? Angelina Jolie recently paid $400,000 for a Banksy painting, and Jude law and Kate Moss are collectors too, so the show might be a celebrity magnet.
