ANNETTE BENING AND WARREN BEATTY: THEY SAID IT WOULDN’T LAST!

When Annette Bening and Warren Beatty surprised everyone by getting married in 1992, HE was by far, the bigger star. After he became successful, Warren started taking his time about making movies – whether he starred or directed, so he wasn’t as prolific as Annette. She took some time off with her children, but basically made a LOT of impressive films. Nowadays, SHE seems to be the bigger star and she’s one of the lucky over 50 women in Hollywood who keeps getting offers. (Besides “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool” in which she plays Gloria Grahame, Bening has three more movies in the works.) She and Warren appeared quite happy at The Moving Image Salute to Annette Bening this week in New York. Also at the event was Timothy Chalamet from “Call Me By Your Name” looking rather handsome.

He was leaving a Christmas party in London when Mick Jagger gasped as he felt himself stripping on the slick stairs. Fortunately he was able to grab to arm of a man nearby – he appeared to be his bodyguard. A trip to the hospital would have been inconvenient: not only has Mick been spending time with his 31 year old girlfriend Melanie Hamrick (they have an 8 month old baby boy together) but he’s also been seen with other young women in cities where the band is appearing.

Anniversary Karen Lynn Gorney Saturday Night Fever

OBSESSED WITH SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

If you’re wondering who these two people are, the guy is a wealthy Italian, Gianluca Mech, and the woman is Karen Lynn Gorney – she was John Travolta’s leading lady in Saturday Night Fever. (She famously said no to Tony Manero.) It happens to be the 40th anniversary of the movie, and Mech is a superfan, to put it mildly. He spent $200,000 to duplicate the movie’s 2001 Odyssey Disco at exactly the same location in Bay Ridge, used in the movie. It’s now a Chinese restaurant, but Mech had a special lighted dancefloor built and redecorated the place for his party. He flew in 50 friends from Italy and invited anyone in disco vintage attire to join the party. Of course he invited the cast – Travolta didn’t show up, but Karen did, and Monti Rock III was DJ.

We were as startled as you were to hear that George Clooney gifted thirteen of his male friends with a million dollars in 2013. He invited them all to dinner and gave each one designer luggage filled with $20 bills! An incredible gesture – but let’s analyze this. George said many of his longtime friends –“the boys” -did not achieve the success that he did, so he wanted to relieve their financial worries. Randi Gerber revealed this news – apparently he was among the lucky 13. But he was ALREADY a millionaire, thanks to his entertainment business – bars and lounges worldwide. Were the other recipients really that hard up? MOST IMPORTANT, George didn’t know even ONE WOMAN in his life deserving of such a gift? Really? Not even a loyal publicist or agent? No way, could we NOT feature this spectacular photo of Zendaya – she’s in New York promoting her new (and second) movie The Greatest Showman. The 21 year old Disney star is a successful singer AND actress. Last year she starred in her FIRST movie Spider-man: Homecoming with British actor Tom Holland, also 21, who promptly became her undercover boyfriend. At 5’10”, Zendaya has a few inches on Tom, but they’re still going strong.

Back in the earlier 2000’s, we used to wonder what was so attractive about the brothers Benji and Joel Madden from the band Good Charlotte.
