ANNETTE BENING CARRIES THE TORCH

Looks like Annette Bening, 65, has taken up where her husband Warren Beatty, 86, left off when it comes to political issues. (That’s Annette in the navy shirt at the strike) She’s the chair woman of the Entertainment Community Fund – they give financial help to out of work actors for rent, medical care, and food. And it looks like SAG/AFTRA members will be needing it if this strike continues. Warren could be staying out of sight because J Randy Taraborelli’s book on Jackie Kennedy was just released (“Jackie: Public, Private, Secret”) and it reveals that Jackie dated playboy Warren briefly and confided that she thought he he was no big deal in the bedroom. Yikes…

OLD AND NEW HOLLYWOOD COLLIDE AT MOTION PICTURE MUSEUM OPENING

We predict that someday the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will give the Met Gala some serious competition- if one can judge by the opening night fundraising party. Old and new Hollywood turned up for this event last night, which has been a long time coming. (We regret that Debbie Reynolds didn’t live long enough to see her dream come true.) Lady Gaga sang jazzy old songs with a big band and made a point to chat with Cher. Of course Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson celebrated the opening, along with Katy Perry, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, John Waters, and Issa Rae. We heard that Hollywood’s original playboy Warren Beatty and his wife Annette Bening got a lot of attention from the crowd. One of Warren’s exes, Diane Keaton, would have been there, but she was busy shooting a video with Justin Bieber!

WARREN AND ANNETTE ARE LOYAL TO THEIR OLD FRIENDS

We always love seeing Annette Bening and her husband Warren Beatty out together- who would have guessed their marriage would last 28 years? We remember Warren from the days when he never met an airline stewardess he didn’t like. (That was before they were called flight attendants.) Warren, 82, and Annette, 61, still look like they’re having fun. They have four kids aged from 19 to 28. The couple attended an event at Spago celebrating a book written by tainted Beverly Hills lawyer Bert Fields. Fields made a lot of money defending the Weinsteins and suing people who criticized Tom Cruise’s “religion” Scientology- he compared Scientology critics to Nazis. How times have changed…

THE TIME WARREN BEATTY, NATALIE WOOD, AND ROBERT WAGNER BUMPED INTO EACH OTHER

This photo, taken by photographer Gary Lewis in the 1970’s, is quite significant because it features three movie stars in a love triangle! Here’s the backstory: Natalie Wood married Robert Wagner in 1957 when she was 19 and he was 27. Everything was fine until she filmed Splendor in the Grass in 1961 with Warren Beatty. Their passionate love scenes on camera led to an affair and wrecked her marriage to Wagner and they divorced in 1962. In 1972, all was forgiven and Natalie and Robert married again. A short time later, Warren Beatty just happened to be waiting by the door at the busy Beverly Wilshire hotel for a friend, when suddenly Natalie and Wagner walked in! AWKWARD- they ignored each other – but Gary Lewis got the shot. If you love Old Hollywood photos and gossip, use this link mptvimages.com and type in Gary Lewis’s name. His Pics are amazing and he’s put together a celebrity packed book ready to be published.

ANNETTE BENING AND WARREN BEATTY: THEY SAID IT WOULDN’T LAST!

When Annette Bening and Warren Beatty surprised everyone by getting married in 1992, HE was by far, the bigger star. After he became successful, Warren started taking his time about making movies – whether he starred or directed, so he wasn’t as prolific as Annette. She took some time off with her children, but basically made a LOT of impressive films. Nowadays, SHE seems to be the bigger star and she’s one of the lucky over 50 women in Hollywood who keeps getting offers. (Besides “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool” in which she plays Gloria Grahame, Bening has three more movies in the works.) She and Warren appeared quite happy at The Moving Image Salute to Annette Bening this week in New York. Also at the event was Timothy Chalamet from “Call Me By Your Name” looking rather handsome.

WARREN BEATTY: BLAME PRICE WATERHOUSE FOR THAT OSCAR DEBACLE – NOT ME!

Whatever you do, don’t blame Warren Beatty for the Best Picture Oscar debacle on TV last night. The real culprit is Price Waterhouse Cooper – the company responsible for calculating the Oscar results and keeping the winners a secret. The Price company was on talk shows all last week bragging about their super security – they said they have TWO complete sets of winning envelopes delivered to the award show to make SURE the envelopes arrive safely. THAT explains why Emma Stone still had her winning envelope while Warren was handed the duplicate for Best Actress INSTEAD OF Best Picture. Upon opening it, Warren was visibly puzzled and showed it to Faye, probably hoping she would agree to stop the proceedings and ask for the RIGHT envelope. But she paid NO attention and blithely announced La LA Land as winner, leaving him up the creek. Too bad (or maybe not!) La La Land people were already into their speeches when the correction for Moonlight was made. Sam Rubin was among those careless reporters who scornfully speculated that Warren and Faye’s AGE had something to do with the error. (Ageism?) No, it was Price Waterhouse Cooper’s error and we don’t blame Warren for being insulted and carrying around that wrong envelope all night to prove it. However, this mistake DID provide a slam-bang ending for the show!

WHAT DO JEFF GOLDBLUM AND WARREN BEATTY HAVE IN COMMON?

Jeff Goldblum, 64, is just a little bit like Warren Beatty. As soon as he achieved some success in Hollywood the lanky actor started dating every attractive girl that caught his eye. He briefly married two leading ladies (including his costar in The Fly, Geena Davis) and in 2014 he actually settled down. Late in life the former Casanova married a gymnast, Emilie Livingston, and she gave birth to a son. The once happy bachelor/playboy took to fatherhood with such gusto that now they’re expecting a second son!

WARREN BEATTY AND ANNETTE BENING’S YOUNGEST DAUGHTER

You don’t see a lot of photos of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening’s children, but their youngest girl Ella, 16, turned up at a screening of dad’s movie Rules Don’t Apply. Ella’s older brother Stephen, 24, is transgender and a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College. Stephen now lives in Iowa with his boyfriend Liam and not long ago announced that he wants to have children. To his credit, Warren has rolled with the punches and adores his kids and all their differences. Surprisingly, playboy Warren turned out to be an involved and devoted husband and dad.

WARREN BEATTY HAS A SURPRISE FOR US

You don’t see Warren Beatty, 79, walking down the street in Beverly Hills every day, but then he doesn’t come up with movies very often. It’s been 15 years since Warren was onscreen but here he goes again. He wrote, directed, and produced Rules Don’t Apply, which happens to feature Howard Hughes as a pivotal character – played by Warren, of course. Hasn’t he been working on this movie for DECADES? It’s not a bio – the film takes place in Hollywood in 1958 and it‘s about a young couple who work for Hughes and fall in love, which is against studio rules. The comedy-drama also features a supporting cast which includes Annette Bening, Alec Baldwin, Candice Bergen, and Matthew Broderick. Fox is releasing the movie in November.

WARREN BEATTY AND ANNETTE BENING’S TRANSGENDER SON STEPHEN IS AN ACTIVIST

Warren Beatty and Annette Bening are still very quiet about their transgender child Stephen Ira, 21, (formerly Kathlyn) but Stephen himself is anything but quiet. He participated in a GLAAD video imploring New York City to provide better medical benefits for transgenders. (It’s hard to imagine that they DON’T) He’ the first one to speak in the PSA. Just goes to show, nobody’s happy with their health coverage these days but no one seems to have a solution, either.
