MELISSA MCCARTHY LEFT OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT DETAILS

Melissa McCarthy ALMOST had our instant admiration when she declared in a Redbook interview that when she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2012 that she contacted five or six top designers to make her a red carpet gown, and they all turned her down. We say she ALMOST had our admiration because she refused to NAME the snobbish designers who gave her the brush-off! This is something we’d like to know and Melissa seems like a bold enough woman to name names. But she didn’t. Why is she protecting these designers who didn’t give a damn about HER?

ANDREW DICE CLAY IS SPREADING A RUMOR ABOUT HIMSELF

Photo: Sony
And it’s a doozy. Clay planted the idea that he just MIGHT be nominated for an Oscar for his role in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine. The movie is enjoying decent reviews (we loved it!) and excellent boxoffice. It has been described as a take-of on “A Streetcar Named Desire“ since Cate Blanchett’s character shares many characteristics with the tragic Blanche Dubois. Of course that comparison DELIGHTED Clay because that means HIS beer swilling working class character is reminiscent of Marlon Brando. Since Cate is likely to earn a nomination for her role, Clay figured “Why not me too?” Actually Clay was well cast as a more subtle version of himself, but his acting wasn’t all THAT. Still, he has high hopes!

KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF GABOUREY SIDIBE’S BOYFRIEND!

With no help from the Millionaire Matchmaker, “Precious” star Gabourey Sidibe has acquired a boyfriend. She admits he’s just a “ a civilian with a regular job” but she’s keeping his name under wraps and hesitates to take him out in public. (She was snapped here at a Nets vs Bucks game in New Jersey) Gabourey says that she used to envy thin girls with long hair but “now that I’m older I really do feel like I am a beautiful girl.” Being nominated for an Oscar obviously does wonders for the ego.

IS OSCAR NOMINATED ARTIST BANKSY SENDING US A MESSAGE?

We love guerilla artist Banksy’s humor and his art, so we were delighted when the documentary he directed and stars in, “Exit Through The Gift Shop” was nominated for an Oscar. (Watch the trailer above) Following the news, this large piece of street art appeared in Los Angeles. It features Banksy as a gold Oscar, surrounded by Star Wars storm troopers and has a red carpet leading out to the sidewalk. Hmmm. Who could be responsible for this….
