Norma Jeane Baker

MARILYN MONROE WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG AND INNOCENT

This 1941 class photograph from Ralph Waldo Emerson High School in Los Angeles is going up for auction at Bonhams next month because the girl who was to become Marilyn Monroe is among the students. Fifteen year old Norma Jeane Baker signed the back of the photo for a school friend of hers named George. She wrote: “To Georgie, A super swell fellow, in fact, really keen! (I really mean it Geo!) Norma Jeane Baker.” Her choice of words is so charming. Bonham’s expects the photo to go for around $9000.
