David and Victoria Beckham are in New York for the runway show of her increasingly successful fashion collection, which was held at the New York Public Library. Before the show, David and Victoria and little Harper ate at Balthazar. Terrifying Vogue editor Anna Wintour giggled like a schoolgirl when she was seated in the front row of the show right next to David.
Victoria Beckham is obviously enchanted with her three month old daughter Harper. She took Harper to the park where they watched the boys practice playing soccer. David Beckham has had a very lucrative offer to play soccer for the Paris team so he may have a long commute next year from Paris to LA. Victoria and the boys would stay in California while the boys are in school and visit during vacations. Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 10, and Cruz, 6, have fallen in love with Los Angeles and want to stay in school here.
Who’s better at selling men’s underwear than David Beckham? David had an epiphany when he realized how much underwear Emporio Armani was selling after he became their spokesperson. When his contract was up (tennis player Rafael Nadel was hired to replace him) Beckham jumped at the chance to create his OWN collection of what he calls “men’s bodywear.” He consulted his soccer team mates on the final designs and his new collection will be distributed by H&M in 1800 stores in 40 countries. Accessible to all.
Ever since the Beckhams announced they were expecting last January, they’ve been bombarded by gifts for the baby. It seems like every upscale manufacturer of strollers has sent their latest model in hopes of seeing little Harper being pushed around it. It’s not gonna happen. Victoria and David received changing tables, all kinds of baby carriers, clothing, little girl toys, stuffed animals, dolls, and even a swing set. Victoria and David have a policy of not accepting gifts- everything is either returned or donated to LA charities – even the fourteen strollers worth up to $800!
Victoria and David Beckham are ecstatic over their new baby daughter Harper, but there IS one tiny problem. (The Beckhams released photos of the baby for their fans on Facebook instead of selling the pix to the highest bidding magazine. Nice!) The problem is, Victoria wants her little girl to have the same California childhood that her boys have had. She loves that the boys can play outdoors in the sunshine all day and spend weekends on the beach. Of course, David’s contract with L.A. Galaxy is up this year and he wouldn’t mind playing soccer with an English or European team, so the family might be forced to move back.
David Beckham took his oldest son Brooklyn shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills and both made a very favorable impression among the salesclerks and other shoppers. “Brooklyn has impeccable manners – he’s such a nice boy” exclaimed a salesperson. David stopped to sign autographs and pose for photos with everyone who asked. He purchased $5000 worth of Jo Malone candles from London – they retail for $65 apiece and come in such scents as Grapefruit Luxury and Pomegranate Noir. David ordered an assortment. Are the Beckhams planning a party? After the Saks visit David treated Brooklyn to frozen yogurt.
David and Victoria Beckham must be getting nostalgic for things British because David and the boys went shopping at Ye Olde Kings Head Shoppe in Santa Monica, where they sell all kinds of edibles from the UK. The Beckhams stocked up on specialties like mushy peas, baked beans, meat pies, teas, biscuits, several bottles of Robinson’s Orange Squash, and loads of candies. The boys insisted on jelly babies and an assortment of Cadbury chocolates. They left with seven bags full of English favorites. Perhaps some of these treats are destined to fulfill the cravings of pregnant Victoria..
One more reason why we think the Beckhams are among the best dressed – and best looking- couples in the world. David’s plaid suit (can’t get enough of that!) is delectable and beautifully accessorized. Pregnant Victoria looks luscious and subtle in creamy beige without revealing any baby evidence. We’re depending on her NOT to resort to wearing skin tight dresses when her pregnancy becomes more obvious.
Victoria Beckham has been dreaming about having a little girl and now that she’s succeeded at getting pregnant with her fourth child, she has her fingers crossed. She does admit the odds might be against her. But another boy is just fine – Victoria says “I have a huge house and want to fill it up with kids.” And she insists she LOVES being pregnant – the whole process. We think David Beckham is lucky to have her.
