“SCIENTOLOGY” INSPIRED MOVIE RESURRECTED WITH JOAQUIN PHOENIX

Back in March we told you about Jeremy Renner dropping out of “The Master” – a movie loosely based on L Ron Hubbard and Scientology, to take a job in Tom Cruise’s “Mission Impossible IV.” Universal dropped the project for mysterious reasons (Scientology pressure?) but now, according to Deadline.com, the Paul Thomas Anderson (“There Will Be Blood”) script has gotten financing and been snapped up by The Weinstein Company and will proceed with Joaquin Phoenix in the Renner role. The original now-untitled script has been extensively rewritten for some reason (Scientology threats?) Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the ambitious self-help “guru” and Phoenix plays his ardent follower. (Ironically, Phoenix was raised by his family in the Children of God religious cult.)

  1. Maybe River Phoenix has been secretly raised from the dead by Xenu.

  2. he looks hot in that pic.
    very charismatic…

  3. Such a perfect face for radio!

Why oh WHY is he wasting his talent in movies?

  4. He is a great actor, and with him in it I will see it. Not in theatres mind you, it will definately be a Blockbuster night.

  5. His family are a bunch of wackadoos that had all the kids working in show business at an early age in order to support their worthless butts.

  6. Fear the Religions, they will not only empty your wallet but your soul also.

  7. Pippa,
    “Fear the Religions” ?

All religions? That’s a bit much don’t you think?

I am very strong believer in God. I’m no saint but I love my God and try to be good.

  8. Looking at this photo again, Joaquin looks like Mark Zuckerberg, when he was on the cover of TIME magazine, awhile back.

  9. Too bad Joaquin is in it. That alone will stop ME from seeing it. I have shut down on him since his rediculous pretend-tious time parading around acting loony on Letterman and having his brother-in-law Casey Affleck film him being a spazz bad actor/crazy self indulgent asshole. too bad he too Casey down with him with that shit.

Oh, has anybody ELSE ever noticed his incredibly CONCAVE chest? If he laid flat on his back you could eat soup out of his chest!
It’s so easy to see in all his movies. I thought it was so wierd when He played Johnny Cash, a very manly man with a huge manly chest and huge shoulders, and when he turned sideway a bit you could see Joaquin’s sunken chest and his shoulders which sort of are frozen in a forward held position. It took me right out of the movie when I noticed it over and over even tho I’ve noticed it many times before. I wondered why they didn’t make some sort of body prop for him to look more physically more like Cash.
Cash was built more like a John Wayne type of guy.

  10. when the scientology movement started off they just neede a country full of NAIVE & UNCERTAIN people.
………SO THEY WENT TO THE UNITED STATES, folks!!

  11. I’m so glad this movie got its funding back….I totally believe Scienos shut it down…..so, it should be awesome with Philip Seymour Hoffman. Also, Joaquin Phoenix had his own strange religious upbringing that should enable him to be the superb actor he is in this film.

  12. I’d LOVE to see it for Hoffman alone since he is brilliant, but I won’t waste a dime of that waste of air Phoenix.

You’re welcome Denise. I’d suggest chicken noodle would work best in THIS “bowl”!

  13. Is that a high definition picture?
H.D. is great for hockey, not so great for skin pores.
REta, your soup analogy is disturbing.
