LEONARDO DICAPRIO: ALL IN THE FAMILY

PLX101895.leocutjpg
Leonardo DiCaprio just keeps getting better and better. We love that he really cares about his family and can’t do enough for them. Now he’s planning to bring several generations together in a Malibu. According to Australian reporter Nelson Aspen, Leo’s looking to buy three houses side by side in Malibu and gate them off as a large compound. Leo will occupy one house, his mother will live in one house, and Leo ‘s grandmother will live in the third house. His grandmother lives in Germany and he often visited her there. Now he wants to bring her to the warm climate in Malibu where she’ll be near the family. We predict all the houses will be solar powered.

TRACY MORGAN: NOT SO FUNNY

S%2B6_Tracy_110605.jpg
Tracy Morgan, the Saturday Night Live alumni now appearing on 30 Rock, has been involved in a number of drunken misadventures recently – some illegal – others just obnoxious. But, as a performer, he committed the biggest crime of all at The Hard Rock Cafe in New York – and alcohol was NOT involved. Tracy and three friends spent three hours at the cafe recently, eating A LOT and drinking nothing stronger than herbal tea. His server attended to his every need. Apparently the management was SO impressed with his pleasant behavior that they comped the entire check. How did Tracy express his gratitude? BY STIFFING THE POOR WAITRESS! He didn’t leave any tip at all! Gratitude and generosity are obviously not in his vocabulary.

JOHNNY DEPP: BIG IN JAPAN

DeppKiddy
Johnny Depp has always held out when it comes to doing those lucrative Japanese advertising campaigns that many celebrities LOVE collecting big paychecks for. But he caved in recently and did a big ad campaign for Kiddy Land – a chain of upscale toy stores. Johnny’s Pirates of the Caribbean movies have made him a huge favorite with children and the fact that he has two of his own, softened him up. Gigantic billboards of Depp are now featured in all the stores.

JAMES BROWN: WHAT HE REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT PRINCE

prince%20jamesbrown
A friend of ours who used to write for Rolling Stone told us an amusing story about the recently departed James Brown. It was back in the early 80’s and this reporter called James to ask his opinion of the new sensation Prince, who was being compared to him. Prince‘s shiny suits, pompadour hair, and melodramatic songs were reminiscent of early James Brown. When our reporter got James on the phone and brought up Prince, Brown didn’t hold back. “He’s a skinny imitation of me!” growled the Godfather of Soul. “HE RIPPED ME OFF!” The moves, the style, the hair – I did it all first!” We don’t know if James became more politically correct later on, but he had no love for Prince back then.

LA DOLCE MUSTO

MustoCut
If you need a good laugh and love gossip, our friend Michael Musto has a new book for you. La Dolce Musto (Amazon $10.85) is a collection of his most entertaining columns in The Village Voice through the years. John Waters describes the deliciously eccentric Musto as “the best social columnist in New York.” We love the fact that he asks the TOUGH questions. For example, he asked Carrie Fisher if the urban legend about her walking in on her mother (Debbie Reynolds) in bed with Agnes Moorehead was TRUE.

And for those of you who love blind items – some examples:
What late star’s husband went home with a female impersonator dressed as his dead wife?
What animal activist hypocritically uses dead cows in the form of leather and other S&M paraphernalia when he has sex with young hustlers?
What children’s icon was caught out of costume- and character – shopping for dildoes on the west side?
Any guesses?

VOTE NOW!

We don’t know if Rosie O’Donnell’s feud with Donald Trump is a publicity stunt, but we love it.

Keanu Reeves: Ivy League

KeanuIvycut.jpg

You don’t see Keanu Reeves walking out of The Ivy very often- he’s not the “look at me!” type of actor. Keanu had lunch Tuesday with the female friend behind him carrying the food to go. Observers say they appear to be simply friends. Keanu didn’t clean up a LOT for the lunch – he reportedly had something that looked like chocolate stains on his jacket. And you can always depend on seeing THOSE SHOES… Still, we never seem to get tired of looking at him.

VINCENT GALLO: THE EARLY YEARS

gaiety2.jpg

Our item about Vincent Gallo provoked an acquaintance to tell us another surprising story about him – and we DO love eccentrics. It seems one of the first jobs Gallo had when he arrived in Manhattan in his early twenties, was as a dancer at the Gaiety Male Burlesk club near 42nd street. He had breakdancing experience and called himself “Prince Vince.” Young guys danced in bikini costumes – variations of Village People outfits- and stripped down to NOTHING. Most of the clientele was elderly or overweight men. The club was wild in those days – there were “private rooms” where the boys socialized for extra tips. Vince was always complaining that he didn’t make enough money – maybe because of his “offbeat ” looks. Madonna made the place famous when she filmed a video there and a few years ago the landmark was torn down.

SELMA BLAIR: BRAVE NEW LOOK

selma_blair_300x400.jpg
Selma Blair is taking a firm stance against hair extensions by chopping off her long locks in favor of this assymetrical punk cut. We admire her courage. Said she “really missed having short hair.” Selma, who was married to Ahmet Zappa, grew weary of the cookie cutter beauty standards in Hollywood and she went to hairdresser Garren and asked for a “skate-punk haircut.” She absolutely LOVES the brave new look and feels very comfortable with it. Her reps weren’t so thrilled, however. Selma dismissed concerns and intends to wear wigs for future projects, when necessary.
