JOHNNY DEPP: BIG IN JAPAN
Johnny Depp has always held out when it comes to doing those lucrative Japanese advertising campaigns that many celebrities LOVE collecting big paychecks for. But he caved in recently and did a big ad campaign for Kiddy Land – a chain of upscale toy stores. Johnny’s Pirates of the Caribbean movies have made him a huge favorite with children and the fact that he has two of his own, softened him up. Gigantic billboards of Depp are now featured in all the stores.

I believe when they do the ads, they sign a contract saying the ads can’t be shown in the US. It would be fun if someone would put together a movie of Asian ads and the the great A-List actors.

A-List celebrities have been doing ads in Asia for years. Ads that here in the US would be beneath them. I believe when they do the ads, they sign a contract saying the ads can’t be shown in the US. It would be fun if someone would put together a movie of Asian ads and the great A-List actors.
For Depp, the lure of easy money was too, much to ignore. Kevin Costner is another celebrity who did ads in Asia. Although, in Costner’s case, he probably needed the work.
