LAST CHANCE TO SEE RIVER PHOENIX

Fans of the late River Phoenix might be surprised to learn that the last movie he made is about to be released. River famously and tragically overdosed 19 years ago outside Johnny Depp’s Viper Room at the age of 23. The movie he had been filming, “Dark Blood,” was 80% finished. The Dutch director, George Sluizer, who is now 80, finally pulled the movie together with voice-overs to fill in the blanks. It’s described as the story of a young widower (Phoenix) who exiles himself to the desert where he encounters two Hollywood actors (Judy Davis and Jonathan Pryce) on a romantic getaway. Variety praised River’s performance in the movie, which debuted at the Netherlands Film Festival in September.

JOE SIMPSON’S FAMILY IS OMINOUSLY SILENT AS SCANDAL UNFOLDS

Friends and acquaintances of Joe Simpson have been calling TMZ – we’re guessing because he asked them to – to deny that he’s gay and has a string of young boyfriends. Some of the callers even admit they don’t know whether to believe Joe. It’s rather sad. Former pastor Joe is hiding out in Santa Monica and none of his family members are backing him up. While more than one young guy has come forth to tell of his relations hip with Joe, his family has remained mum. His wife Tina will certainly have the upper hand in THIS divorce. Barbra Streisand is in Las Vegas this weekend and the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Norm Clarke reminisced about her FIRST appearance there in 1963. She was the OPENING ACT for Liberace from July 2 to Aug 4 in 1963 at the Riviera. The ladies who adored Liberace didn’t warm up to Barbra, then 21, and her first two nights were disastrous. So Liberace started introducing her at the beginning of the show as his “discovery” and raved about her talent. After that great buildup people started paying attention to Barbra, and the rest is history.

Our favorite Halloween couple is Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart. We can just picture them at home, laughing as they put together their costumes at the last minute. They dressed up as “geeks” with bad wigs, pocket protector and nametag, cardigan sweaters, big glasses and highwater pants and skirt. Instead of going to a big Hollywood party they hung out with the kids in their Brentwood neighborhood while sipping wine from paper cups. Cute couple.

Charlie Sheen had better take a closer look at his drug dealers and call girls. It appears that one of them is leaking detailed information to RadarOnline about his drug and call girl habits. CRYBABY KATE MOSS SEEMS TO HAVE FORGOTTEN SHE’S HAD A CHARMED LIFE

Kate Moss, 38, did an awful lot of complaining in her interview with Vanity Fair. She made it sound like being a supermodel is a huge headache and the job is almost unbearable. Considering she’s a petite 5’7” and managed to make it to the top of the modeling biz, one would think she’d be surprised and delighted. She seems to remember the physically trying times but not the enormous paychecks and perks. She also dismisses her party reputation and insists she really didn’t have all that much fun. When Kate was with Johnny Depp they seemed to be really in love (and got engaged) but she brought out a temperamental side to him and he trashed a NY hotel room. It was out of character for him. It seemed to be a passionate, drug fueled romance. Kate doesn’t say WHY she left Johnny but admits she cried over him for six years. She really doesn’t seem like a happy girl – and she SHOULD be. What a life she’s had!

You might wonder where Joe Simpson is while all these boys are coming out of the woodwork claiming to have had sex with him. When it happened to John Travolta, he took off for Hawaii, then Europe, and stayed out of the US as long as possible. Jessica’s dad is holed up in the Santa Monica bachelor pad where he’s been staying since last summer. He moved there when he sensed the scandal was destined to explode. Once in awhile his nephew Ike stops by to keep him company, but Joe is avoiding the limelight.
