Jennifer Lopez posted this retro inspired photo of herself and Alex Rodriguez reading the New York Times and we couldn’t love it more. First of all, they both look quite content and relaxed as opposed to pandemic-crazed. But most important, we love that they are holding the New York Times. Anyone who reads and supports newspapers is more than okay with us!
Social isolation stinks – but things could be WORSE – you could live where John Travolta calls home – Clearwater, Florida! Beautiful beaches notwithstanding, the city is gradually being taken over by Scientologists, and the population doesn’t know WHAT to do! Over the years, the secretive “church” has bought huge chunks of property and buildings – especially downtown (using fake names) – and it’s almost all TAX EXEMPT- so the city is losing a lot of money. Clearwater residents complain about groups of dressed-alike people marching around in lines like zombies, and a downtown that is NOT flourishing like nearby cities. The police department has been wined and dined by Scientology (as is their habit) and the public no longer trusts THEM. We love this old photo from 1979 with Scientologists in ill-conceived Nazi uniforms protesting negative coverage in the Clearwater Sun. Certainly this photo gave Clearwater locals the creeps! Another reason to support your local newspaper!
Look what turned up in our mailbox! Smart designers everywhere are jumping on the creative mask bandwagon and clothing company R13 is no slouch! They slapped together this mask/hat combo that is both subtle and cool for their funky customers. And their company logo is on the front of the hat. All this for only $75. Rather pricey, but it’s already sold out!
John Travolta must be sorting through his old photos during isolation and he posted this one on Instagram. (He’s in the light blue shirt) He wrote that when he was fifteen his school offered an aviation class which inspired his “second career.” (five girls and only two boys?) Travolta collects jets like other celebrities collect sports cars. He was even named an honorary Quantas pilot at one time. John still flies frequently and last we heard he had a private “airport” with two runways at his Clearwater Florida home near the Scientology center.
We always get a kick out of former employees gabbing about their celebrity bosses after the fact. One of Kanye West’s bodyguards, Steve Stanulis, who was fired by West in 2016, said Kanye was one of his “least favorite people to work with.” Stanulis said that Kanye had ridiculous rules- he forced his guard to walk ten paces behind him, and he wouldn’t ride in the same cab with him – making protection more difficult. Among his clients, Stanulis said that “Kanye was a hard worker, but the neediest, moodiest, and the worst tipper!” On his first day of work, the guard said he accompanied Kanye to the building where his fashion studio is, and when they got in the elevator Kanye had a meltdown because the guard didn’t know which button to push for his floor. West was outraged because the guard didn’t “call ahead to find out which floor he was going to.”

Writer/director Lena Dunham wished herself a happy 34th birthday on Instagram, featuring this uncharacteristic photo of herself coyly sunbathing by the pool. Girls creator Lena has been social isolating with her roommate in Los Angeles (we’re guessing Silver Lake.) The New York hipster split with her music producer boyfriend Jack Antonoff in 2017, and has an apartment in the village, but has been staying in LA. Seems like outspoken Lena is always apologizing for her “insensitive” comments, but she’s often right on the money. Not so sure about those tattoos though…
Okay, we can understand Oprah being extremely careful and isolating her boyfriend Stedman Graham to the guesthouse for two weeks after his European trip. After all, Oprah has been sick with pneumonia recently and still has discomfort. But we have to seriously question her decision to isolate her cocker spaniel Sadie after a trip to the vet. Wouldn’t a sudsy bath have been ENOUGH to clean up the poor pup? There are no known cases of a human catching Covid-19 from a pet. (Most people would rather isolate their spouse than the family dog!) Oprah is setting a weird precedent – at least we can assume Sadie is being waited on hand and foot by Oprah’s employees.
Heidi Klum’s daughter Leni is a whole lot happier since her mom allowed her to join Instagram. For years Heidi kept her children’s faces out of the spotlight. No social media either – she wanted them to grow up and go to school like normal kids. Finally, Leni, 16, persuaded her mom to relent and she started on Instagram, posting mostly photos of her famous mother. (no big revelations) Two years ago, Leni wanted to be a dancer, but lately she’s become obsessed with fashion and hopes to follow in mom’s footsteps. Listen, times are tough in the gossip world – many celebrities are isolating, so all we see are the occasional masked celeb at a supermarket or bike riding. Gossip is HARD to find! So we’re not surprised that Us Weekly has devoted their last few issues to a new Brad Pitt “romance.” He’s been spending time with actress/artist Alia Shawkat, 31, who happens to live ten minutes from his home in Los Feliz – she’s been seen biking to his house. Alia was on the series Arrested Development, and has even had her art shown in Paris. They both share an interest in art, architecture, and film, and they have FUN together. Mutual friends in the art world introduced them, and sources INSIST they are just friends. Why do we believe they are just pals? Brad has always been attracted to beautiful women – whether they were actresses or waitresses. Alia is cute, but her buzz cut and baggy clothing indicate she is NOT on a man-hunt. Also, she says she is bisexual, and her best friend is Ellen Page. Odds of this relationship turning romantic are slim, but never say never…
Figures. Only a day after the death of Siegfried & Roy star Roy Horn, members of the Tiger King production team are scrambling to put together a special about Roy’s 2003 tiger attack. Since Tiger King was Netflix’s Most Watched Series, the special is likely a go. Of course it will feature the beautiful cats, but remember, Siegfried and Roy are – to put it mildly- fascinating characters themselves, and definitely competition for Joe Exotic…
