JESSICA ALVES WANTS A WOMB TRANSPLANT SO SHE CAN GIVE BIRTH!

Jessica Alves is now in Brazil, hoping to become the first transgender woman to have a womb transplant. AND have a baby! It was only last February that she became a woman after sex reassignment surgery, and already she says she will only feel truly complete if she can give birth! We still wonder WHERE she gets the mountains of money she spends on surgeries, travel and designer clothes. Since her only known job was on Big Brother UK, she must have very indulgent parents. Apparently doctors in Brazil theorize that since womb transplants have been successful for women, they might work for a transgender woman. Womb donors would consist of dead donors or women who transitioned to become men and had wombs removed. (Think about it- someday there might be banks of donated sex organs available to aspiring transgender people!) Jessica, 38, has already frozen her sperm for her IVF pregnancy (with a donated egg) if she has a successful womb transplant. She’s hoping for a “brood of children.” Right now she’s taking tests and exams before the operation to make sure she’s an ideal candidate.

LOU REED: PERFECT DAY FOR A LIVER TRANSPLANT

We’re longtime fans of Lou Reed (“Walk on the Wild Side” is the ringtone for our phone) so we were happy to hear that he survived his liver transplant last month. His wife, performance artist Laurie Anderson, just talked about the surgery in a UK paper. Former Velvet Underground singer Reed, 71, had mysteriously canceled all his April appearances and Laurie said he was “dying” before the transplant was done in a Cleveland hospital. Reed has always been open about his long battles with alcohol and drugs. Which, of course, brings up the ethical dilemma: do people who self-indulgently destroy their own livers deserve to compete for the scarce liver transplants with sick children and adults who did nothing wrong? And where does fame fit into all of this?

BOBBY RYDELL AND WHAT’S LEFT OF HIS HAIR SURVIVED DOUBLE ORGAN TRANSPLANT

All we know is, 60’s teen idol Bobby Rydell had one of the best pompadours we’ve ever seen. And if you’re in the mood to cha cha – do it to his song “Dream Lover.” Last week Bobby, now 70, had a liver and kidney transplant in Philadelphia and he’s recovering nicely. Hopefully he’ll soon be back on stage singing “Wild One.”

TRACY MORGAN: THANKS FOR THE KIDNEY-BYE BYE!

“30 Rock’s” Tracy Morgan pulled off an exceptionally caddish move when he allowed his exgirlfriend Tanisha Hall donate a kidney to him, and then dropped her like a hot potato. Morgan had been diagnosed with diabetes in 1996 but continued to mistreat his body with forbidden substances and neglect. He ended up in dire straits. According to Mediatakeout, he and his girlfriend Tanisha had recently broken up and she wanted to repair the romance, so she volunteered HER kidney. He jumped at the chance and had the successful surgery December 10. He thanked her, paid the hospital bill, and never looked back. Somehow this reminds us of George Lopez’s situation.
