Penny Saved, Million… Squandered?

We have to wonder what Nicky Hilton, heiress, is on a tight budget like she was the other year.
In 2004 it looked like she was shopping for cut-rate Christmas gifts – the brunette sister has been seen frequenting the jewelry counter at Christophe in Beverly Hills where they sell fabulous fakes. Nicky loves the faux diamond jewelry actually made of crystals. “1 karat” ear studs are a bargain at $70. Most recently Nicky bought the hot and in-demand Louis Vuitton knock off earrings – gold finish hoops with a little lock and key- for only $95. The REAL thing would have set her back around $2600.00 at the Vuitton store.

Christmas Morning

Also in 2001, Justin Timberlake must have been the happiest kid in town on Christmas morning. His girlfriend Britney Spears spent $100,000 on a frantic hourlong shopping spree in Beverly Hills just for him. She dropped $15000 at Prada on a leather coat, luggage, and $500 combat boots. Her $50,000 purchases at Gucci included an $8000 leather jacket, a $4000 suit and a thousand dollar sterling beltbuckle. At Armani she loaded up on cashmere sweaters in every color and she ended up at Barneys gathering up a cashmere blanket, an organizer, binoculars and more clothes. Some guys have all the luck.

Spoiled Not

Pursuit of Happyness (intentional typo?) star, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have some different ideas about raising kids. They were shopping along with their three offspring (one son is by will’s first wife Sherie) at the Warner Brothers store at a mall near their Thousand Oaks home. Will encouraged the boys to pick out whatever they wanted so they ran around the store, piling up tons of toys and stuffed animals on the counter. Jada took one look at the mountain of stuff and scolded them “You have enough toys – you’re way too spoiled as it is. I said you could have ONE thing and I meant it!” Poor Will had to help the boys put the items back. There’ll be no spoiled brats in the Smith family!
