ANOTHER FAKE ROMANCE FOR BRAD PITT?

Listen, times are tough in the gossip world – many celebrities are isolating, so all we see are the occasional masked celeb at a supermarket or bike riding. Gossip is HARD to find! So we’re not surprised that Us Weekly has devoted their last few issues to a new Brad Pitt “romance.” He’s been spending time with actress/artist Alia Shawkat, 31, who happens to live ten minutes from his home in Los Feliz – she’s been seen biking to his house. Alia was on the series Arrested Development, and has even had her art shown in Paris. They both share an interest in art, architecture, and film, and they have FUN together. Mutual friends in the art world introduced them, and sources INSIST they are just friends. Why do we believe they are just pals? Brad has always been attracted to beautiful women – whether they were actresses or waitresses. Alia is cute, but her buzz cut and baggy clothing indicate she is NOT on a man-hunt. Also, she says she is bisexual, and her best friend is Ellen Page. Odds of this relationship turning romantic are slim, but never say never…

Here’s an interesting piece of historical Hollywood gossip: Back in 1984, Cher and Sam Elliott were cast in Mask – Cher played Eric Stoltz’s character’s mother, and Sam played her biker boyfriend. Cher and Sam had lots of hot scenes together – on and off bikes. She fell MADLY in love with Sam, and felt they were MADE for each other. Elliott had just married Katharine Ross so the timing was awful. Cher moaned to friends that Sam seemed like the love of her life – and she was miserable because she couldn’t have him. HEY PAM, WHAT’S UNDER THAT OVERCOAT?

Pamela Anderson is waiting to be buzzed in the door at the Ecuadorian embassy in London for yet another visit to Julian Assange. She’s become a more than regular visitor since they were introduced by Vivienne Westwood a few years ago. Pamela often brings special food treats for Julien because his options presently are limited. They also have long talks about politics – Pamela says she finds him “intellectually stimulating” and she appreciates his efforts to expose corruption in our government. She went on to describe him as “sexy” and that makes up wonder what Pam is wearing under those overcoats she wears to the embassy. A naughty French maid’s uniform, perhaps?

We know ONE person who is THRILLED that Gavin Rossdale is single again. The London music scene in the 80’s was loaded with drugs and cross-dressing – Boy George and his best friend Marilyn were everywhere. In fact, Marilyn used to call us at Star magazine with gossip tips in those days. In 1995 Boy George revealed in his biography that Marilyn had a romance with Gavin Rossdale! Marilyn was totally smitten and claimed it lasted for 5 years but Gavin played it down and called it a fling. Marilyn has since given up drugs and resumed his real name of Peter Robinson and turned up at the LGBT Awards in London. He’s just waiting for the phone to ring!

ENOUGH ALREADY. KATIE HOLMES IS NOT HAVING A SECRET FLING WITH JAMIE FOXX!

For the last six months, In Touch magazine has been trumpeting that Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx are secretly dating. Jamie is a good friend of Katie’s ex-husband Tom Cruise and credits Tom for boosting his career. The magazine continues to promote this totally fake story as their exclusive scoop because Katie and Jamie can’t be bothered to address it. (Katie is not even Jamie’s “type” – if you know what we mean) They are simply friends. Think about it – would either Katie or Jamie risk offending Tom by having an affair? You don’t date your powerful ex-husband’s friend OR the person who helped your career. It’s completely out of character for Katie and we wish In Touch would stop beating this dead horse of a story. We find the rumor that Katie Holmes is having an affair with Jamie Foxx laughable. The LAST thing Katie wants to do is upset her ex-husband Tom Cruise because Jamie is HIS friend. Tom isn’t giving Katie a hard time about custody of their daughter Suri, and Katie wants to keep it that way. It’s also highly doubtful that Jamie would hook up with his friend Tom’s ex-wife. (Tom and Jamie costarred in “Collateral”) So they both have very good reasons for NOT hooking up and judging by past behavior, neither seems to be each other’s “type.”

If Cher didn’t prove once and for all, to all you doubters that Tom Cruise is STRAIGHT- we give up trying! Cher does NOT lie! Back in the 80’s after Tom hit it big in “Risky Business,” he and Cher had a fling. (We’re not sure if he was a Scientologist yet) We happen to have written in Star magazine about an evening they spent necking on the couch at a party at Paul Newman’s house. They also went out in public together. Cher was 16 years older than Tom and they were definitely an odd but affectionate couple for a short time. Cher was crazy about Tom and he was flattered by her attention. Fact is, she wouldn’t have rhapsodized about Tom to Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live”, if it hadn’t been a genuine hetero -romance. So there. (We’re guessing that wig had something to do with the eventual split)

All this gossip about Tom Cruise and Cher having a secret romance back in the 80’s is way off base. It was NEVER a secret! Cher and Tom were seen necking on a couch at a party at Paul Newman’s house. (Tom and Paul became friendly while filming the 1986 movie “The Color of Money”) Partygoers couldn’t help buzzing. Cher was quite smitten with 16 years younger Tom. After that scene, the paparazzi were all over them and magazines were full of photos of the odd couple while the short romance lasted. We think Cher’s unfortunate choice of wigs damaged the relationship. The top photo was taken at a White House event and features Tom and Cher as well as Bruce Jenner.
