THE STORY OF WHISKY A GO-GO WOULD MAKE A GREAT MINISERIES

The Whiskey A Go-Go on glorious Sunset Strip celebrated it’s 50th birthday this week and it brought back lots of memories. We had a hip clothing store called The Garment District a few blocks east of the Whisky in the early 70’s and all the performing rock stars shopped there for bellbottoms and vintage shirts. Jim Morrison, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Mick Jagger, etc were regular visitors. Last year Richard Branson’s production company was considering doing a TV miniseries on the Whisky comparable to Boardwalk Empire. How great could that be? Rock stars, groupies, gangster drama, music, vintage fashion and cars – all the elements are there! We’d love to see Branson’s people pull it off.

NOW THAT HE’S SINGLE, ASHTON KUTCHER IS PLANNING A SPACE FLIGHT

About to be single Ashton Kutcher is doing all the things a wife might frown upon – most recently he signed up to become a space traveler. British billionaire Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic company has been taking reservations for their first space flights and Ashton is the 500th customer to book a flight. The spaceport is located in New Mexico. Branson’s space ships are in the final stages of testing and he and his family will be on the first flight. The trip costs $200,000 and passengers are taken to the boundary of the earth’s atmosphere where they will be weightless for six minutes. The whole ride lasts around three and a half hours but requires three days of pre-flight training. Exciting, if you can afford it.

KIM KARDASHIAN’S NBA BOYFRIEND KRIS HUMPHRIES: ISN’T BEING A GREAT BALLPLAYER ENOUGH?

Kim Kardashian’s media-shy boyfriend Kris Humphries,26, used to run from the paparazzi (it took a long time to get a photo of the couple together) but now he’s hired his own publicist! We’re guessing Kris Jenner has schooled him in the art of cashing in. NBA star Kris has had the best year of his career and strangely, some credit this to his association with Kim “Midas” Kardashian. Kris’s new publicist is touting him as more than a great basketball player – he’s an “entrepreneur” and a “philanthropist.” Our esteemed colleague CJ at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis where Kris hails from, could barely contain her laughter – she pointed out that Kris is taking himself FAR too seriously if he considers himself in the league of philanthropists Bill Gates or Richard Branson.
