PARIS FASHION WEEK FOR MEN

Paris Fashion Week is bringing us up to date on menswear now and we have to admit it’s funny, but more than a little scarey. Looks like the male designers are trying to outdo the outrageous designers of women’s wear, and they are succeeding. Can you imagine anyone you know dressing like this? How about a celebrity? Walter Van Bierendock is the designer here who thinks men should loosen up and be more innovative…

MILAN ACCESSORIES FOR MEN: FACEMASKS AND PLASTIC GLOVES

Milan designer Phillip Plein has decided that men will be wearing their possessions such as credit cards, cash etc across their bodies on a chain. And it’s not a bad idea to stash some rubber gloves and a face mask in those little boxes. Milan is under siege from coronavirus which has exploded in a nearby small town. Models and fashionistas are rushing to catch flights OUT of the city before worse things begin to happen…

CAN MENSWEAR IN PARIS TOP MILAN FOR SHOCK VALUE?

Looks like designers showing at Men’s Fashion Week Fall Winter 2020 in Paris are definitely trying to out-do Milan designers when it comes to shock value. Loewe’s clothing for guys is usually pretty wearable, but this outfit – which comes in several colors- is NOT for everybody. Only the boldest–or craziest guys will order this little number, but it IS fun to look at. Come to think of it, we can picture ONE celebrity wearing this…

ITALIAN MENSWEAR IS SUDDENLY A LOT MORE PLAYFUL

Some fashion shows are impossible to resist. Milan is presenting their menswear collections and the competition to be most original and edgy is at an all-time HIGH. Here’s an example of Magliano’s fall and winter 2020 collection for men! The not-so-typical model is wearing a framed painting on a chain around his neck and gloves attached to his belt. Note the strange waistline on the pants. Fun to look at.. It seems Milan is trying to catch up to Japanese fashion…

IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT YOUR MAN TO LOOK LIKE?

Dolce & Gabbana is showing their 2020 fall collection for men in Milan and they call this STREET SYLE! Couture designers are struggling to introduce more designer day wear for guys – inspired by the popularity of hip hop fashion and active wear. Let’s face it, fashion houses are making more money now with designer sneakers than with red carpet gowns. THIS silky ensemble is immediately recognizable as D&G, but looks more like something Hugh Hefner would have worn, than Travis Scott. STREET WEAR? We think not.

NEW FAD IN L.A: HIGH HEELS FOR MEN

Brace yourself. Those insanely high heels that make women feel powerful are starting to look good to men. Young men, anyway. In LA, fads like this start in gay clubs and may or may not go mainstream. Singers like Adam Lambert are likely to jump on the high heel bandwagon first. In the 70’s, rock stars like Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart didn’t hesitate to wear women’s clothes with platform shoes, but rockers today are more macho so it remains to be seen if Kanye West will experiment with heels.
