Many delusions were shattered last week when the news broke that Johnny Depp, 50, just got engaged to Amber Heard, 27. Johnny has long been on a unique pedestal – many women believed he was special and sensitive – not the typical Hollywood actor. This was reinforced by the fact the he lived happily in the French countryside with French actress/singer Vanessa Paradis, 41, and their two children for years. Their split was disappointing, but it soon became apparent that Johnny had new ideas. Or maybe not so new. He isn’t the man many fans thought he was- Johnny’s just another aging actor smitten with a sexy young blonde starlet, and he couldn’t care less about the 23 year age difference or cultural gap. JOHNNY DEPP FINALLY TOOK OFF THAT PIRATE SUIT

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Johnny Depp look this ordinary – he’s filming some final scenes for the science fiction movie “Transcendence.” Johnny got an offer he couldn’t refuse – 20 million dollars plus 15% of the gross for this film. No wonder he looks so happy. He plays a dying scientist who downloads his mind into a computer and soon finds himself with more powers than he ever imagined – it all goes downhill from there. Sounds interesting. The movie comes out later this year.

WHAT BROUGHT JOHNNY DEPP AND TOM CRUISE TOGETHER?

A considerably cleaned up Johnny Depp turned up on Hollywood Boulevard for producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s Walk of Fame ceremony. Jerry produced Johnny’s Pirates of the Caribbean series and the Lone Ranger. Tom Cruise also showed up (we wonder if Tom and Johnny are acquainted) because Jerry produced Top Gun and Days of Thunder. (Click here to see them together) Lots of Hollywood leading men owe their careers to Bruckheimer.

“PARANOIA” STARS AMBER HEARD AND LIAM HEMSWORTH HAD NO TIME FOR FUNNY BUSINESS

Miley Cyrus was probably somewhat watchful when her then-fiance Liam Hemsworth started filming Paranoia earlier this year. He had steamy love scenes with Amber Heard. But Amber was apparently being closely watched by Johnny Depp at the same time. Amber, 27, and Johnny, 49, have been keeping their May December romance low-key but he was often on the set visiting her. According to Mike Walker at the National Enquirer, Johnny even pulled strings to get Amber a bigger fancier trailer while she was working. The movie opens in August and we wonder if Liam and Miley will be together on the red carpet. Actually, we wonder about Amber and Johnny, too.

JOHNNY DEPP INTRODUCES AMBER HEARD TO THE ROLLING STONES

It’s definitely ON. Johnny Depp and his Rum Diary costar Amber Heard were seen last month at a Rolling Stones concert and this week they had dinner with two of the Stones! Johnny, 49, and Amber, 27, and Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood dined together at Ago restaurant in West Hollywood. There has been much speculation about whether Johnny and Amber are, indeed, a couple, but it looks like they are.

MERYL STREEP: SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN?

Another day, another fairy tale. Meryl Streep, (walking her dog in the rain, above) and Johnny Depp are about to sign to star in a film version Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway musical “Into The Woods” for Disney. Both are excited at the prospect of singing. It’s the story of a baker and his wife who travel into the woods to confront the witch who put a curse on their family, and the encounter various whimsical characters. Meryl is reportedly eager to play the witch.

JOHNNY DEPP AND AMBER HEARD COULDN’T RESIST THE ROLLING STONES

The Rolling Stones were the talk of LA before Saturday when they had a secret concert scheduled at the Echoplex club in Echo Park, which holds only 700 people. First come-first served tickets were sold at the El Rey theater during the same day for $20 apiece with strings attached. Everyone in line with an I.D. could only buy ONE ticket and they were photographed and given a wrist band for entry. No cameras or cellphones allowed. Needless to say the line was humongous. The concert was amazing, but the BIG news was the fact that Johnny Depp, 49, and his Rum Diary costar Amber Heard, 27, were there holding hands right out in the open. Looks like a serious romance since they’ve been discreetly fooling around a couple of years now….

Three teenagers were convicted of murdering 3 children with no physical evidence. Seventeen years later they are free, thanks to DNA evidence. This film – described as “astonishing”- tells the story of the inept police force and corrupt legal system that robbed these men of years of their lives.
